ktg249 Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 :) We are open to staying anywhere in the LA area from 4/11-4/14/08- wanting a 4* at about 100- hotwire has 4* at LAX -shuttle, no smoking, fitness, pool, restaurant, business center and highspeed for $89 I think the LAX is the Westin or Sheraton ??and a downtown -fitness,pool,restaurant, busines, highspeed at $109. Westin or Omni ?? Would you agree with my tentative identifications of the hotwire hotels? If we are willing to stay by LAX,which we are, where would you start bidding? Is there usually a large diff. between hotwire and price line? Thanks-kt
coast2coast21 Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 Priceline will get you a better price, and I really recommend you do some research on what area you want to stay in.
Colfax Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding, ktg249.The 4* at LAX looks like the Sheraton. Hotwire rates the LAX Westin 3.5*.The 4* Downtown could be Westin OR the Omni. That set of icons has been reported at both hotels.Like coast2coast21 says, you'll usually get a lower rate on Priceline in those zones. I'd suggest starting at $60 for 4* and raising $5 per free rebid. You've got five rebid zones so that will carry you to $85, which is probably more than you'll need. Please use BetterBidding's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links and let us know what you get.
ktg249 Posted March 24, 2008 Author Report Posted March 24, 2008 we tried the priceline tactic with the free bids- thanks to all who helped us figure out how to go about it- but we didn't get anything better than hotwire- we stopped bidding when we were within $5 of a hotel we knew or had it narrowed down to 2 acceptables. This is what we ended up with.4-11-08 to 4-15-08 Sheraton Gateway -4*-$89 per night - 2 rooms and taxes $806.454-18-08 to 4-19-08 Hilton Los Angelos Airport -3.5*-$76 - 2 rooms and taxes $179.71Thanks again.
