You have three re-bid zones when bidding 3* in the LGA area. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 3* LaGuardia LGA...

Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $68, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $70.

I'll add that $70 is not typically enough for a 3* in this zone.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

Hi, and thanks so much for this strategy.

I've used the rebid strategy before on your advice, so I understand how it works. Except, maybe not ... because when I check LGA 3*, I see only one possible rebid and that is Upperwest. Am I missing something?

Thanks for the help!

go back to the "New York Airports (Brooklyn-Queens)" area and you should have 6 different zones. Please list those zones that have lower star ratings than the 3* that you are bidding on. These are your "rebid" zones.

Ah, okay, I scrolled down further and saw the additional options that included NY airports.

Here's how it went:

I used the link from Savingsbarn.com, and used the strategy on this thread exactly, but was rejected.

So, perhaps (as suggested), I am simply dreaming in techni-colour!

Question: do you feel that I might have some luck in this price range ($70) at 2.5* (instead of 3*)?

Thanks to you both for your help!

You can try 2.5*... but none of the hotels in this area are anything to write home about.

Where will you be the nites before this? If this is post-cruise where are you disembarking?

I'm just thinking out load that NYC doesn't seem too expensive for this nite so if you're looking to see the city a bit it may be worthwhile (nicer hotel and the opportunity for an extra nite in the city) to consider that as an option.

You hit the nail on the head -- we see it more as a layover stop. We won't have any great siteseeing ambitions by that point (and we'll likely be broke by then too! ha!). So, we don't really care where we stay, but we do want it to be clean and relatively cheap.

However, I suppose we could fork over the cash to go from JFK into Manhatten. Stay over night in Manhatten and have a dinner on the town. Then in the am, make it out to LGA.

I will keep poking around Hotwire etc to see if I can find any cheap hotels for that night.

Not sure how worthwhile this will be as a cab from JFK-->Manhattan will cost you about $50-$60, then cabfare from Manhattan-->LGA another $25-$30. This is comapred to JFK-->LGA which i would guestimate at about $40... although there also 'group ride shuttles' for all of these routes which would lower your costs.

Seems like rates are very high right now for this date... all i can think of is that the Mets have a home game(?) which is filling hotels, but i wouldn't think that would do it.

Neither area offers too much in the way of earth shattering deals, fantastic top-rate hotels, or a 'must-do' area, but i'd sooner pay a bit more for an LGA property in order to be closer to the airport in the morning.

not sure if this is a viable option, but I recall that the Pan American Hotel in Elmhurst (Queens) is located in between both airports and offers complimentary shuttle service to both JFK and LaGuardia. This is probably a 2* at best, and the reviews of the property are somewhat mixed, but for a one night stand, this might work. The rate on Expedia is $122. Good luck!

As FYI, I tried another bid on priceline.com (unsuccessful).

I logged in via SavingsBarn.com and used the strategy above but:

$70, rebid

$75, rebid

$80, rebid

$85

I'm back and ready try again for a hotel near La Guardia airport for August 23rd.

Would appreciate bidding help, with these details:

max bid - $100

Many thanks!

At the 3* level in LGA you have three re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 3* LGA...

Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $85, if rejected wait 24 hours and try again as follows:

Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $100.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

Hi - thanks for the strategy - much appreciated!

Linked to priceline via SavingsBarn.com and tried the first step and was rejected.

Will wait my 24hr now and try step 2.

Another Queens hotel you might try is Ramada Adria which is fairly near JFK; you could take a cab to LGA in the a.m.

Good luck!

It is very hard to find good 3* priceline deals in this area. I have heard of people getting 3* in this area for $80/night. To get the Ramada Plaza a 2.5* I had to bid $120. It all depends upon what is going on. On your data the Ramada on Expedia is $300 its nice but not that nice.

Prices at JFK hotels are much lower on your date. You may want to bid the JFK zone. But traffic starts to pick up around 5:45 am so you would wont to be on the road before that. By cab before traffic starts you could be at LGA in no time.

The Pan American Hotel is in a good location. Lots of food options and they have a shuttle. You can call them and find out what time it start to run 718-446-7676.
