FlyConcorde Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Hi all,Help needed for winning hotel room on Bath Rd via Priceline Name Your Own Price.Night of May 17 (maybe 18 too).Renaissance my favourite. Sheraton Skyline, Marriott and Crowne Plaza will do too.Thank you very much in advance for your suggestions and ideas. :)
Blueskies Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Renaissance is a 3* but the others are 4*. You could target the CP on Hotwire. You could get any 3* or 4* not just the ones listed so you need to be comfortable with all the 3*/4*s in the area (even any not on Bath Road) to use Priceline. Have you looked at conventional prices? What is your maximum bid? When will you know if you are looking for 2 nights or just 1? Is this price linked or dependent on some other variable?
WillTravel Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 I'd much prefer the Bath Road hotels too. You could look here for conventional booking (it's often fairly reasonable):http://www.holidayextras.co.uk
micheles Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 i've just spent one night at the radisson - friday 21st - it was okay - it is right next door to the marriott on bath road - and also next door to mcdonalds - i had a kingsize roomlast summer i had a priceline 'win' at the marriott
FlyConcorde Posted May 7, 2006 Author Report Posted May 7, 2006 Should be two nights, 16 and 17. The Renaissance is full unless some last minute no shows.I still have not arranged the flights, everything will be sort of last minute.Maximum "name your own price" bid would be about $85/night + taxes. All on standby for the time being.Thank you all for your answers. :)
FlyConcorde Posted May 9, 2006 Author Report Posted May 9, 2006 Here we are. I have my plane ticketsI will need to stay at Heathrow (preferably on Bath Road) the night of the 17th and at Gatwick the night of the 18th as I have a flight from there at 6.00 in the morning on the 19th.Looking for 4 star in both places bidding via Priceline Name Your Own Price.Any help or suggestions will be most appreciated.Thank you very much in advance.
thereuare Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Please only inquire regarding one stay per thread... so we'll use this for the Heathrow stay on 5/17 and please start a NEW TOPIC for your Gatwick stay.Regarding your Heathrow stay:-what is your minimum star rating-can you accept a hotel that is not on Bath Road Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
FlyConcorde Posted May 10, 2006 Author Report Posted May 10, 2006 Minimum star rating: 3 starsHotel that is not on Bath Road: I guess I will have no choice as long as it is in the airport perimeter and accessible by shuttle or other bus from the terminals.Got to hurry on this one as there will be a lot of people out there the morning of the 18th. :)
thereuare Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Hotel that is not on Bath Road: I guess I will have no choice as long as it is in the airport perimeter and accessible by shuttle or other bus from the terminals.I don't know the area well enough... is the zone small enough to ensure this?Maybe another board member familiar with the Heathrow zone will chime in with their thoughts. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
FlyConcorde Posted May 10, 2006 Author Report Posted May 10, 2006 I have gone through Heathrow lots of times. My answer to your question would be yes unless there are som hotels there that I did not notice but those would be in the Hounslow or Hatton Cross perimeter I think, not too near from the airport itself.
thereuare Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Rates at some proerties are 2x-3x normal :) At the 4* level you have one re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Heathrow...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65.If the above is rejected wait 24 hours:Select 4* Heathrow...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75.If the above is rejected wait 24 hours:Select 4* Heathrow...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85.The above will get you to your maximum bid within 48 hours, hopefully soon enough to make alternate plans if not successful (you may want to book a cancellable back-up if your first round of bidding is rejected)Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
FlyConcorde Posted May 12, 2006 Author Report Posted May 12, 2006 4* Heathrow rejected at $80 adding Luton as free re-bid zone.I guess I will have to wait 24 hours to rebid on a 4*Looks like the place is busy those two nights.Had found a 4* at $75 on Hotwire and by the time I entered the credit card number and punched the "go" box the offer had gone. The 3* Heathrow properties offered on Priceline don't look terrific to say the least...Will wait and try 4* again tomorrow.
Blueskies Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 Were you bidding for the two nights or just the one?If you change the dates you can rebid before 24 hours.
FlyConcorde Posted May 13, 2006 Author Report Posted May 13, 2006 24 hours later...I was successful with a 4* at Heathrow for the night of May 18th. :) :o I Rebid $65. Got a counteroffer for $81. Counteroffer accepted.our Offer Price: $81.00Number of Rooms: 1Number of Nights: 1Subtotal: $81.00Taxes & Service Fees: $22.06Total Charges: $103.06Crowne Plaza Heathrow Airport 4-starI have some accomodation arranged in central London for the night of the 17th. Not a hotel.17th was very difficult, all the hotels in town and at the airport booked up.Must be because of the football game Arsenal playing the finals and lots of followers travelling. Also Her Majesty the Queen will be making a visit to Hayes (near Heathrow) on the 18th.
