brats Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Will Travel,I am looking for 2 nights @ the Marble Arch Thistle 15th -17th FebI have tried over the last week with between $53-$63 but been rejecteted . I did add Nottig Hill/ Paddington but got cold feet to go higher because I didn't know the Notting Hill/Paddington Hotels 4*I chose midweek because I thought it would be easier-----Hotwire is $105 should I keep trying???
WillTravel Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 My personal opinion is that I'd try to lock up a bid as soon as possible if you're going in mid-February, but it depends how close to the edge you like to play it. I don't think midweek is necessarily easier, because Thistle hotels tend to be business hotels, and they're more occupied during the week. Have you thought of the Kensington zone (drawback - the possibility of getting the Hilton Olympia which is a little less convenient).
rapazfreiburg Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Exactly, WillTravel is right. Whenever there are differences in the rate per day between midweek and the weekend, usually midweek is more expensive. This is not your typical small boutique hotel that is alway fully booked during the weekends, it's rather the other way round.
rapazfreiburg Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 brats, you wrote>have tried over the last week with between $53-$63 but been rejecteted What was the counteroffer you received when bidding $53 in Bloomsbury Marble Arch? I'm sure you got one. Do you have any clue what hotel the one on Hotwire could be for $105. Knowing that, it will be easier to give advise on whether to continue bidding on Priceline or not.
brats Posted February 11, 2006 Author Report Posted February 11, 2006 OK Counter was $100 a couple of times just added Notting Hill Counter was $82 cold Feet frightenened for NHHotwire has the right symbals for MA Thistle
dahammer Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 please keep all posts in the same thread and follow up on your two Vancouver Vancouver 2 threads. This keeps the board orderly and can help others who may be searching for similar accomodations.
rapazfreiburg Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 OK, if the counter was $100, just like in the thread where you started posting, the same will apply to your case too: It'll take around $90 to be succesful AND it is possible you'll get a completely different hotel. Only at rates of around $55 can we almost "guarantee" that it's the Thistle Marble Arch since no other hotel has ever offered their hotel rooms at such a low rate. Only because Hotwire shows the "right symbols for the Thistle Marble Arch", I don't think you should assume this is in fact the Thistle Marble Arch. There are dozens of hotels in that zone and many of them will have similar or the same amenities. I actually suppose it will not be the Thistle, since, apart from one report for the Thistle Barbican (for an exceedingly high rate), we have never had reports for Thistle hotels on Hotwire.
brats Posted February 12, 2006 Author Report Posted February 12, 2006 OK tried again todayBid $67 bloomsbury Only-----Counter $100 again Added Notting Hill and upped the bid to $68 Success---------We got Kensington Hilton not my first choice but its only 2 days and the bus is outsideSo $68 for Kensington Hilton 15th Feb to 17th Feb
