nanbill47 Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 Wondered if anyone has done this in reverse. Bid on Sydney Australia and been successful? Where can I find out about the hotels they offer?
thereuare Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 There are winning bids for Syndey, see the OTHER COUNTRIES forum. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
nanbill47 Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 I only found one other post on successful bid on Sydney Hotel. How do I find out what hotels Priceline is using in Australia?
thereuare Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 See if you can view these SEARCH RESULTS before they expire. You can also look at the HOTEL LIST for "Other Countries".... but the best advice of all would be to post the details of your stay (dates, zones, star rating, budget, etc) in the appropriate forum. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Tburr Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 I generally use Priceline for hotels in Sydney. For the 5 star range I received the Marriott Harbourside. For 4 Star I have recevied the Marriott by Hyde Park and the Novotel Century. I have been very pleased.Sydney is so easy to get around that you cannot go wrong with bidding the CBD.
nanbill47 Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 We are going to be in Sydney Jan. 4 to 8th, 2006. Am trying to decide if it's worth trying to bid for hotel. Like the 5 star of course but bids I've read have been high. Would like something around $100. since we will be there 4 nites. Someone got the Menzies do you know anything about that hotel? We've had good luck with hot Wire but haven't used priceline.
thereuare Posted October 11, 2005 Report Posted October 11, 2005 This topic has diverted from the "General Priceline Tips"... if you have a stay question please post in the PRICELINE OTHER COUNTRIES section of the board. kirakira Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 Hi AllHave just tried to register at priceline.com and they will not accept credit cards with billing addresses outside US and Canada ( I am Australian) - how do I get around this? Same kind of chicanery as was used to register in the first place???Thankskirakira
dahammer Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 Follow the techniuques in this PRICELINE BIDDING TIPS FOR CANADIANS thread, it should work for Aussies too.
larrylaffer Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 I am going to be in the same position soon. I am worried that when they ask for ID they will notice my Australian address on my licence. I have two options (I can use the Canada trick) or I can use a friends address in the US but again when it comes to check in they will realise my aussie address. Is this a problem or am I just being jittery for no real reason. Love the Board by the way!
rapazfreiburg Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 Hi, you are being too jittery. :-) I regularly bid from Germany with no problems at all. The hotel will check the name on your ID to see if it matches the name on the reservation. Priceline doesn't even provide your billing details (i.e. credit card number and address) to the hotels they book for you. And even so, the room has been paid for and you could still have two different home addresses. If you're still unsure, you can also simply use Priceline.co.uk or Priceline.com.sg to bid. They allow to register with addresses anywhere in the world.
larrylaffer Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 Thanks for the information. It is really appreciated. Do priceline.co.uk and the singapore site operate off the same databse as the USA site? Is it just a case of having to work out the pounds to dollars conversion etc? If that is the case, I could just as easily use the UK site and convert aussie dollars to pounds etc and then work out USA rate (sounds a little too complicated). Thanks for your assistance. This site is quite friendly compared to TOBB.
djohannw Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 At least for the co.uk-site I can confirm that they operate on the same database as the .com-site, so in that case it is definetly only a case of converting US-Dollars to UK-Pounds...Greetings - Dirk
dahammer Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Do priceline.co.uk and the singapore site operate off the same databse as the USA site?please note that neither .uk or .sg sites are accessable through Savingsbarn.com :)
larrylaffer Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 OK Thanks. I do want to support this site and so will try to use the usa site and thus savingsbarn. thanks for the assurances :)
