  1. hello 'window shopping' and saw this hotel - hotwire customer favourite facilities - resort, oceanfront, restaurant, pool, fitness centre, highspeed internet, childrens activities, golf(nearby) tennis (nearby), business centre and self service laundry could it be the westin? :)
  2. found a good advertised deal with westin at hilton head - $99 for a traditional room and $109 for a deluxe + resort fee and 10% tax - having no idea at all about what is good for this area - there are a few posts but the date is a long way in advance - is it worth 'holding' a room at this rate - and hoping for something better later or is it a good rate- fullstop? - it is a rate that can be cancelled - the rack rate is considerably more between $299 and $349 + + my dates are 25th march to 7th april any help gratefully received thanks
  3. i'm with blue skies, my son breaks up early for the easter break and we have four weeks in total - i'd love to spend it all on holiday but my husband doesn't get much holiday so we split his weeks between easter and the summer - two weeks is as much as i can squeeze out of him for the spring break when do the US schools break for easter - i discovered spring break this year - it made new york heave with people - will we be in spring break season if we arrive 25th march to 7th april? thank you all so much for your help - i'm convinced south carolina is the right choice - we will be able to visit charleston and savannah and have some time relaxing in a resort (it'll be warmer than at home anyway) :)
  4. thanks for your help - i will look closely at the weather and also check out potential hotels - myrtle beach might be just what we are looking for - we usually end up in new york/boston/cape cod - for the hotels, the scenery and the shopping (i am a filenes basement addict- although my husband and sons hate it) i have no idea of the scale of things but would love to go to charleston (great fan of rhett butler) - and it is a race with my brother as to who gets there first - it looks like it could be me.... :)
  5. i am thinking about a holiday for next easter (while flights are reasonable - i can get a return including tax with US airways for around $650 - about 377 british pounds - and was thinking as an alternative to cape cod our usual easter choice we have visited disney several times but had a wash out of a summer there last july and august (charlie!) so it took the shine off just a bit i don't know anyone who has been anywhere in US apart from orlanda, new york or las vegas i like a nice hotel - good rooms, restaurants and room service for my son, but places to visit some days and shopping - we love the outlet malls are we looking in the right area for a great bit of early sun? :)
  6. this site just gets better and better - there is always someone, somewhere who knows just what you are looking for we travel to US two to three times a year and find that the car hire is reasonable but the insurances are wickedly high - so thanks so much - i checked my annual insurance on www.insurance4carhire.com - it'll be 99 pounds a year ($180 - i think) - so cheaper than the usual $22.99 and $11.99 a day - quite a saving @ $35 we'll be quids in with just the fourteen nights in arizona this summer - so can look for cheapo deal (?) on priceline/hotwire :)
  7. i requested a harbour view with a recent priceline stay in boston - hyatt harbourside - and was told no - the room i had booked was an airport view and to change would cost me $40 a night - so in this case i presume priceline had a hand in it (although she was a snotty clerk - so who knows?)
  8. i have never had a problem using HOTWIRE from the UK - i think i gave them my real address and details i have used it several times over the last few years with success now priceline US is a different story - sometimes yes sometimes no
  9. this is a nice hotel - i stayed there last month (and last year) last year with priceline it is within walking distance of anywhere you would want to go - it is only about ten minutes stroll to the infamous filenes basement watch out for the on-street parking - my husband got a ticket (they clean the streets in the early hours of the morning)
  10. i still have some bookings to make for my summer trip to arizona and nevada and will use your support page to book hotels thank you for a brilliant site - i know you have saved me hundreds of dollars and tempted me to try to bid for specific hotels - something i wouldn't have had a clue about - i used to bid and hope..... :)
  11. I've done it too trying to book too many trips to too many places at the same time this summer we are flying from gatwick in england but for some brain staggering reason i have booked two rooms at the marriott at heathrow (about 45 minutes drive away) - to make matters worse (really?) i have booked two rooms with priceline for my family - two adults and two children and then find the marriott has two double beds per room ....... my husband just laughed and said 'well at least we'll arrive at the marriott earlier the day before we travel' .. the really bad news is that we have to leave the marriott at around 5.15 am to arrive at gatwick for our check in i should also add i have relatives in windsor (very near the marriott) where we could have stayed for free (ho hum) i suppose the motto really is CHECK the confirmation page - I do now! :)
  12. thanks for the tip about the $100 a night rate in july - i need an additional night (21st) - have two rooms X two nights from 19th to 21st at approx. $99 (priceline) - can have a much better suite for up to $170 on this offer so might as well go for the best available thanks :)
  13. the same thing happened to me last july - i also opted for the hyatt (with champagne on arrival) and have recently used the vouchers for two nights over the easter break for my holiday in boston almost worth booking this hotel to be walked to the hyatt........ :)
  14. by the way - we did ask for a harbour view and was told we would have to pay an additional $40 a night - seemed a bit steep so declined
  15. :) i've recently had two stays at the hyatt harbourside in boston - totalling six nights - my gold passport was presented at check in (and i also note that membership was logged on booking details received by email from hyatt) - both bookings were made through priceline - but on check out the invoices for each stays incidentals had printed on the bottom that no points were awarded for the stay i spoke with the reception staff when checking in for the second stay and they said i had to ring hyatt they couldn't put the numbers into the system for previous stays - even just a few days earlier - but would credit this stay etc they didn't is it worth ringing hyatt from Uk re the missing $ entries - i suppose we spent around $350 on breakfasts and parking etc ps the handbook in the rooms said that you could upgrade to business plan for a nominal fee - just ring reception - when we did they said we had to do that through hyatt.com - could it be that i just had unco-operative check in staff? we have a further hyatt stay booked for july (phoenix) for two rooms for three nights - i shall ring the hotel in advance as mentioned earlier in this thread - they seem to be more accommodating
  16. :) i don't know if it helps but we got the hyatt harbourside for $68 in april, the 2nd to 7th and then again for one night 8th - with priceline - the five night stay was with the US site and the one night stay was with UK priceline might be cheaper for this hotel than hotwire fyi - i also got the hilton at the airport for the 7th for $65 (approx) using UK site
  17. i have three hyatt stays coming up - all booked through priceline (and all prompted by the rates i noticed your posters were getting) - in total 7 nights at boston harbourside (over two visits) in april and one at phoenix regency in july (two rooms for three nights) i have gold membership from when i was bumped from the orlanda wyndham palace to the hyatt - but no points today i received two emails with regards to my april stays in boston (showing my card number) and offering an airport view room floors 3-11 and 14 does anyone have tips for getting a better floor or view? i am a bit too shy to be brazen at checkin and my husband is even worse i am intrigued by the idea of a club floor - do all hyatts have one - and if they do how :) do priceline customers get to stay on it?
  18. i tried using hotelclub but my hotel was on request and surprise surprise - it was not available - they did offer alternative hotels which did not match my requirements ( a 48 hour turnaround on requests too) - but they did reply within the time frame
  19. have stayed in this hotel a couple of times - when it was the swissotel it is a good location for shopping - filenes and macy's are just around the corner i agree with what was said about the breakfasts - very good value my last stay was february 2003 - i arrived at 1.00pm and was offered an upgrade for a suite ($50) - declined as i was only there for one night and was travelling alone i would have been happy to stay here for my next boston visit - april - but couldn't get it at the right price so after using this site decided to take advantage of the low rates being accepted at the hyatt harbourside i think that i saw this hotel with hotwire (customer favourite?) on friday 18th march at $92 for the 2nd april until the 9th (my dates) - kicked myself for not waiting to book my stay - however, by last night (sunday) it had gone and nothing was coming close to this price - i wonder if it was a mistake? i would recommend this hotel to bargain hunting shoppers (filene's basement) otherwise copley place is a better bet
  20. the wyndham is okay - i hope they have enough check in staff - or the queues can be very long you could join wyndham by request (for free) in advance of your stay - this will give you a designated check in for members only (much shorter) and welcome drinks and snacks in your room i would advise ringing in advance and requesting a room in the main building - they are much better rooms - the annexe rooms are considerably inferior (although they all have tiny bathrooms) enjoy your stay
  21. :) thanks thereuare for your help and advice - i very nearly went with the park centralbut after much time and effort (research some might say) - have settled on the crowne plaza in times square at a cost of $229 inclusive of tax and breakfasts - we were also offered the Barclay at $242 including tax all things considered these prices were the best that i could find - site used was hotelamerica and they are holding the room until 6.00pm tomorrow - while i decide whether to do two or three nights in new york by the way - the price advertised on the site was $242 (inclusive) but they made a reduction over the telephone of $13 (without me asking) so once again thank you - i hope i have now put this booking to bed
  22. had an exhausting time on priceline tonight started with MTW at $140 added free bids (x2) and went up to $150 - no good started again with MTE and this time went up to $152 (including free bids) still no good tried UMT but started at $150 added two free zones and MTE and MTW and increased bid to $168 - still no good i even placed a bid on MTS for $145 - no good i will wait a couple of days and try again i noticed that people are getting the Hilton for around $120 - but maybe not my exact dates thereuare - how high do you think i might need to go on priceline? there is a 4* on hotwire for $195 - so should i bid up to this or do you think even higher? we don't really mind where we are so long as it is in reasonable walking distance of times square (toysrus) and the empire state building we have stayed at the Millenium UN, Sofitel, Rhiga Royal and Park Central in previous years - the Sofitel and Park Central having the best locations for us (unfortunately the Sofitel only sleeps 2 or you need a suite as we are two adults and an eleven year old) hope you can help
