  1. Ended up with a smoking room and the clerk claimed that the cleaning supplies were locked up, but in the end, the room was not too bad. Had a feeling of D
  2. submitted lowball bids at the 3, 2.5 and 2* level in this zone for $49 which were not accepted. Dropped down to 1* and bid $42, and was surprised to get the Extended Stay America. Your Offer Price: $42.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.81 Total Charges: $55.81 The rack rate is $99 plus tax, so I am very happy with the results of this bid, and pleased that I didn't get something like a Red Carpet Inn or the Econo Lodge. Made my bids through the PRICELINE links on the board.
  3. most of the hotels in the Pocono's are very inconsistent, somewhat like the NJ Shore, and as such, not a good area for bidding. Its a zone that you might want to think about a direct purchase or consider HOTWIRE since you might be able to identify the property using the amenity icons. The best of the bunch in this area is the Hampton Inn, but this place is frequently sold out on weekends along with high rates. You might want to consider the Comfort Inn located in Bartonsville, haven't stayed in over a year, but it has an indoor pool with hot tub and the rooms were clean and a notch above Pocono standards.
  4. The Hyatt's restaurant "VU" participates in the Restaurant.com program, but they require two diners per certificate. The nearby Sheraton's restaurant also participates in the Restaurant.com program and only requires a $35 minimum, but I didn't partake.
  5. Call the hotel a few days before check in and mention its your honeymoon and that you would really like to make your first trip to one of North America's Oldest City, Quebec City, as a married couple special. Hopefully, you'll get lucky and speak to a one of the few romantics in Quebec.
  6. made 3 bids in the MacArthur Airport zone up to $46, from 3* to 2* without a bite....but did get the $15 "counteroffer" each time. I figured I would try to get the Hyatt and submitted a bid of $43 and was accepted immediately. For what its worth, HOTWIRE had a 3* for $57 in the Ronkonkoma zone, thought this might be the Holiday Inn or Crowne Plaza. Your Offer Price: $43.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.65 Total Charges: $56.65 You can't beat a Hyatt for $43, this one keeps coming up consistantly in this zone and is one of the best deals around. I don't think I could have dinner here for $43. Made my bids through the PRICELINE links on Betterbidding.
  7. if you didn't see a 3.5* shown in your search then there are no 3.5* hotels that want to sell its excess rooms on HOTWIRE for your specific dates.
  8. just present it upon check in, you might not earn any points for your hotel stay, but you can earn points for any incidentals....buy a newspaper in the gift shop for $1.00 :)
  9. There is always a little bidders remorse when the first bid is accepted, but look at the conventional rates and you will probably have saved $50 or more. This is a difficult area to bid and there are few reported wins in this zone, so I would say you did well. There may be better deals further east in Hauppauge.
  10. Welcome! Please see this topic share your hotel information
  11. made a few lowball bids of $44, $46 and $48 without success. Increased the bid to $50 as was reported recently, success! Your offer price: $50.00 Taxes and Fees: $18.65 Total Charges: $68.65 Made my bids through the PRICELINE links on the board. Haven't stayed in a HoJo's in several years, but this one has some decent reviews.
  12. while in the shopping center, lest we forget a couple of cannoli's from Termini's?
  13. you might want to check out the map view of PRICELINE's "shop and compare" side and see what hotels are located within the borders of this zone. Not an exact science because not all hotels participate in bidding, but its a start. by the way, currently, the highest rated hotel is 3* in this new zone, so it is another rebid zone when bidding at 3.5* or 4*. :)
  14. a great deal....large rooms, manager's reception, free cooked to order breakfast. Parking is expensive though.
  15. if you can, make a stop at Tony Lukes for the Roast Pork Italian with broccoli rabe, its about a mile away, but well worth the trip and better than a cheesesteak.
  16. a great deal for a nice hotel in a great location. Well done!
  17. I first checked HOTWIRE and saw a 2* for $57 and thought it might be the Extended Stay America, so I had (incorrectly) bid $49 at the 2* level and was rejected. I didn't do my homework as the ESA is rated 1*. I added another zone and increased my bid to $51 and won the Fairfield Inn, an upgrade to 2.5*. Your Offer Price: $51.00 Taxes & Fees: $15.41 Total Charges: $66.41 Rack rate was $139 so I was pleased with the result. I had considered a HOTWIRE 2.5* in the Newark Airport zone for $37 and suspected this might be the Ramada (formerly Holiday Inn) but there is a $15 per day parking charge. Made my bid through the PRICELINE links on the board.
  18. Ahhh.....a patron of the Arts....The Canadian Ballet :)
  19. Welcome! How many guests will occupy each room? If you bid through PRICELINE and received a room with one double bed, would this be acceptable? Also, please use the PRICELINE links on the board for your searches and bids. Thanks!
  20. please post a follow up to your previous threads. these topics could help others seeking similar accommodations, so take care of old business before you move onto new business.
  21. if you can, make a trip to Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, its the best pizza I've ever had.
  22. Hotwire had a 2* for $57, thought it might be the Days Inn or the Howard Johnson's. Attempted a few lowball bids on PRICELINE $56 for a 3* and $53 for a 2.5*. Lowered my bid to $51 for a 2* and it was accepted. Your offer price: $51.00 Taxes and Fees: $14.31 Total: $65.31 The standard rate for tonight was $99 CAD, or $99.12 US. :) The hotel seems to have been recently renovated and I am pleased with this win. The room has a flat panel TV and a small refrigerator and I was given a room with one queen bed. The hotel is 100% non smoking. I would absolutely stay here again. Made my bids through the links on the board.
  23. Yes, Philadelphia Funk Fest is going on and features: War, The Ohio Players, and the Bar-Kays just to name a few.....
  24. I had bid $44 in the MacArthur zone for a 3* and $46 for a 2.5* as I believed HOTWIRE had the Crowne Plaza for $51. Rebid in the Hauppauge zone for $44 thanks to a recent win by Sup and it was accepted. Your Offer Price: $44.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.74 Total Charges: $57.74 Have stayed here numerous times in the past, this is one of the best deals in the area. Made my bids through the PRICELINE links on the board.
