  1. I just wanted to post about how good the cookies were. My wife and kids loved the cookies but the ruggalach was great.
  2. This is a nice almost new property. Food in the bar is good, not cheap but good.
  3. It depends upon the airline. Delta agents are very limited as to what they can do for you. If a seat is open they can put you in First on the same trip but they can not give you upgrade certificate.
  4. This property is now the Holiday Inn LAGUARDIA AIRPORT. The Holiday Inn website still shows the Pine Restaurant Lounge which is a good thing.
  5. Southwest has a base fare of $280.00 to Oakland. Total $345.50
  6. If this is per person then its no problem. Delta is as low as $831. But most single stop flights have long or very tight connections. American has some good conections but priced at $1117. If you bid by price are you willing to take a chance on getting a tight or long connection. I see conections ranging from 54 min on Delta to 10 hours on Aer Lingus. The 54 min conection has you join to JFK on a small plan so you would have to change terminals. Not much extra time.
  7. In general I agree that for 2* properties I would prefer to book direct. But as always some rules get broken. In some locations you can get long term stay properties that usually fall into the 2* group. And you can save money on these properties.
  8. PL is an opaque system. If you know that you can add a night at $$$. You could tell your friends. So they always show add a night.
  9. When bidding for rental cars you chose the in the same box it is "Pick-Up/Drop-Off:". If you drop it at another location the fees could be very high.
  10. Travelocity has a group search function in the hotel search box look for the 5+ link. If your looking for a basic hotel they list the Ramada Lookout Mountain West with an indoor swimming pool and complimentary continental breakfast for $55 per night. If your looking for something nicer they list the Hampton Inn Chattanooga-Downtown/lookout Mountain with pool and hot breakfast for $99 per night.
  11. I fly a lot so this is based on my experience and observations. I never beep but see a lot of people who do beep. Now in most airports if you beep twice you get secondary. Some jewlery beeps so be prepared to take it off. Metal in the belt will beep. Jackets have to come off and get placed in a bin. So you will have to take off shoes, jewlery, belt and jacket. And remove bag with liquids from your bag. Gather these items at the the other end of the tunnel without reaching in. Then put them back on and back into the bag. Much quicker to have as many of these items in your bag until you go thru. Also place you bag with the liquids in an outside pocket.
  12. Your bag should be fine. I guess your talking about the TSA web site? http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/pro...ited-items.shtm Hair spray is allowed but it does count toward your total but has to be in a container sized less than 3 oz. Half of a 6 oz container is not allowed. Usually a disposable razor is not a problem but don't put it in the ziplock bag. This depends upon the airport and day of travel. Some airports this is early some it is late. My tips for moving thru the fake secuity check point. Computer out of its bag and into a bin with nothing else. No jewerly, watches, belt, clothing with metal ect. Cell phone and change in my bag. If possible no jacket or put it in my bag. Slipon shoes so that I send them thru the bomb detecting x ray.
  13. Step one is to find out what the current market price is for your flight. One way is to use the airfare checker. http://www.betterbidding.com/airfarechecker/ Keep in mind you need to know the price with and without taxes. AA has a fare all in for $704.10 But lets break it down. If you shop around you may be able to find a better price. Fare (A1): AA CVGHNL G14E3QN fare (rules) $313.50 Tax: US Transportation Tax $11.00 Fare (A2): AA HNLCVG G14E3QN fare (rules) $313.50 Tax: US Transportation Tax $11.00 Tax: US Alaska/Hawaii Departure Tax $15.00 Tax: US September 11th Security Fee $10.00 Tax: US Passenger Facility Charge $16.50 Tax: US Flight Segment Tax $13.60 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Total for 1 adult passenger: $704.10 total without taxes is $627. HOTWIRE has a flight including taxes and fees for $584. Savings taking this flight 704.10 - 584= $120.10. Is this enought to give up your choice of flight times? By giving up your choice of flight times you could lose half a day on each end of your vacation. For bidding on Priceline you bid the fare not the total. Priceline will give you a total of fees before you bid but you have to input a base fare. Just for fun I put in a bid of $500 the fees came out to $46.05. So PL fees are low. The question come back how much of a savings are you looking for. Keep in mind you may lose a day of vacation.
  14. Depending upon the days of travel Asiana from $1082. So the question is when do you want to fly and are you flexible?
  15. Can they set up a PayPal account?
  16. This should help you. But it works best when you plan ahead. http://www.farecompare.com/search/compareD...l?departure=YMQ But to be honest these systems just don't work very well. They see and display fares for a route. But when you click on a fare to fare may already be sold out. Very agrivating which is why most web sites have dropped these kind of searches.
  17. Can't have any proof that some times HOTWIRE beats PL. You should see how big the tread is on flyer talk.
  18. It depends some routes are cheaper mid week some cheaper on the weekend. A route with a lot of business travelers is usually more expensive on Monday and Friday.
  19. I have a Delta Amex Plat card and it is secondary for up to 30 days. https://www124.americanexpress.com/cards/cda/dynamic.jsp? If you want them to be primary they have a program where you pay more, "Depending on the coverage level that you choose, a premium of either $19.95 or $24.95 per rental ($15.95 or $17.95 for California Residents) will be charged to your America PRICELINE EXPRESS Card until your enrollment is terminated. Coverage is for up to 42 consecutive days (up to 30 consecutive days for Washington Cardmembers)." So for what the rental companies charge per day you can be covered.
  20. I have the Delta Amex Plat card. As for car rental insurance from the amex web site: "The Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance Plan provides coverage against theft of or damage to most rental vehicles. Coverage applies for the first 30 days, and is in excess to your other sources of insurance." Last year this alone saved me more than the card fee. But I rented a lot of cars. I also charge a lot on the card so I get bonus miles for my spending. Most of my travel spending goes on the card. Last year when I was in NY I was charging over $7,000 per month. So I was getting around 10,000 miles or so per month. The bonus miles also helped me make Plat on Delta so more free upgrades. But for people with low CC spending its not worth the fee.
  21. Can you book something in the future, say 6 months from now? This would give you a total of 18 months. From a business side I can see why they put a limit on how long these things are good for. 12 months to apply it to a purchase is quite a long time. Chances are that it is company policy not to give out anyones contact info. Most companies have that policy. I am going to go out on a limb and say that a real letter will do more than an email. Most companies place a limit on how long these things are good for. I have a $200 one from Expedia in my account right now. You guessed it 12 months or it is gone.
  22. That is a great deal for a property like that. I wonder if they will put a few rooms on PL?
