  1. First bid accepted. I like this hotel. Bid placed through the BetterBidding PRICELINE link.
  2. $46 no, $49 yes. Three night bid then three nights more via Add a Night. 3* in Rancho Cordova is a can't lose proposition because I like all the reported 3* there: Holiday Inn, Hyatt Place, and Hotel Sierra. This is a fresh and nicely decorated Holiday Inn; not an old and tired one. Bids placed through the BetterBidding PRICELINE link. :)
  3. Yes, if you're willing to raise your limit to $70 I would try that first. $70 for 2.5* in Coastal, Point Loma, and Hotel Circle. Usually I'd suggest bidding to $70 for 3* first; then for 2.5*--to get the nicest hotel you can for the money. But I understand budget is important on this trip, so I'm suggesting to skip 3* because a 2.5* in those zones is more likely to have free parking and possibly free breakfast. I asked which direction you were driving from because Sorrento Mesa zone can be a good value for budget oriented visitors. All the reported 3* hotels have free parking in Sorrento Mesa, and three of four have free breakfast. It's also a zone where people have reported good luck getting two beds. Sorrento Mesa's 14 miles from SeaWorld though, freeway miles, and you'll be passing close to it when you drive from LA. Sorrento Mesa could be a good backup if your $70 bids near SeaWorld don't work. Please start your bids with this PRICELINE link and let us know how it goes. Good luck!
  4. I'll get back to you later today, gozalyn. Are you flying into San Diego or driving? If you're driving from what direction? The answer might affect my suggestions.
  5. I'm assuming your first choice is to stay at a 4* or 3.5* in USE or USW, and that your bidding limit is still $125. There are six rebid zones for 4* and five rebid zones for 3.5*. There are several different ways to approach this, depending on your preferences and how much time you're willing to spend bidding. First, the "Quick and Simple" approach: Start with this PRICELINE link, select USE and USW, and bid $90 for a 3.5*. If rejected add your five rebids at $100, $110, $115, $120, and $125. If a 4* hotel has a lower Priceline rate than a 3.5* your 3.5* bid will be upgraded. A couple variations: 1) Bid up to $125 for 4* in USE and USW first. Then if rejected close browser and bid up to $125 for 3.5*. That method gives you a crack at 4* only first, before 3.5* becomes possible. But it's more steps to bid that way. (Twelve bids instead of six.) 2) If you still prefer USE over USW, you can bid up to $125/4* in USE only. Then close browser and bid to $125/3.5* in USE only. If rejected close browser, and start over for your second choice USW--first 4* then 3.5*. Also, if SOMA and/or Embarcadero are acceptable, you can add them to your opening bids at the very start; or you can bid them separately if you get rejected in USE and USW. If SOMA and/or Embarcadero are also acceptable you can add those at the very start, or you can bid them separately later, if you get rejected in USE/USW. No, that's not true. Once you've selected a zone and bid for it you can't "back out of it". It will stay gray. To get rid of it you have to close your browser and start a completely new bid from the start. Each time you do that please reaccess through the board's PRICELINE link. Thanks! Good luck and keep us posted. I would try one of the above approaches for a couple more days anyhow, maybe til Weds or Thurs, befeore you start trying for 3*. If you get impartient and want to get something NOW let us know and someone will suggest a 3* strategy.
  6. I would try $55 for 2.5* in Coastal. Add Hotel Circle and bid $60. Add Point Loma and bid $65. Please start with this PRICELINE link. Good luck!
  7. This is a new one for the Priceline Hotel List. :)
  8. Two beds aren't guaranteed on Priceline, and neither is a pool. Most hotels in San Diego will have a pool, and a lot of families stay in the three zones I mentioned; so the hotels in those zones tend to have a lot of two-bed rooms, and a pool. The odds of getting two beds and pool are in your favor then, at least compared to some other zones like Gaslamp. Still, two beds and/or a pool are never guaranteed on Priceline, and you'll be taking some risk. Hotwire has a 3* in Sea World-Mission Bay-Shelter Island zone for $94 with two beds guaranteed (I searched on 2 adults/1 child), and a POOL icon, among others. It looks like a match for the Wyndham Garden. Smokefree, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Laundry, Highspeed. Does this interest you at $94 with two bed and pool guaranteed? Or would you rather take the bed/pool risk and try for a lower rate on Priceline? If so let us know your bidding limit and someone will suggest a strategy. If you want to go the Priceline route I'll suggest trying up to $70 for 3* in Point Loma and Hotel Circle zones first, or up to $60 for 2.5*. Please use these HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links for your purchases.
  9. Your trip is still twelve days away and in Priceline terms that's a long time. It's pretty common for Priceline to get more inventory, or cheaper inventory, as travel dates approach. It doesn't happen always and there's no guarantee it will happen for you; but since a couple 4* hotels are now under $200 retail (Hilton $177, Westin St Francis $195) I think it's worth trying up to $125 for 4*, and possibly 3.5*, for one or two more days anyhow before you drop down to 3*. Also, Embarcadero zone is only a $6 or $7 cabride from the Handlery where your friends are staying, so 4* Embarcadero might be worth trying too---if you keep getting refused in your preferred zones. Good luck and keep us posted!
  10. Based on Hotwire rates I think you're bidding too low. HOTWIRE has these: 3* USW $159 3* USE $122 3* Civic Center South $126 (looks like Whitcomb) 3* Civic Center North $138 Hotwire has nothing in Embarcadero at any quality level. HOTWIRE often rates hotels higher than PRICELINE so some of these HW 3* are probably 2.5* on PL. I think you may need to be more in the $80-100 range, even for a PL 3*. Right. Marina-Lombard is the only rebid zone for 3*/2.5*. If you want to bid higher in steps you can squeeze out an extra two bids per day like this: $70/3* USE + USW $75/3* USE + USW + Marina If rejected close browser, reaccess PRICELINE and bid: $70/3* Emb + SOMA $75/3* Emb + SOMA + Marina If rejected close browser, reaccess PRICELINE and bid: $80/3* USE + USW + Emb + SOMA $85/3* USE + USW + Emb + SOMA + Marina Good luck!
  11. Do you require two beds? If not you might win something near SeaWorld for $68 or less by bidding on PRICELINE. Possible options include: 3*/2.5* Point Loma-Shelter Island-Old Town 2.5* Coastal 3*/2.5* Hotel Circle-Mission Valley West If you're interested in any of these someone can suggest a bidding strategy.
  12. What a difference a day makes! HOTWIRE's 2.5* is $146 for Sat + Sun. HOTWIRE's 2.5* is $60 for Sun + Mon. Let us know what you come up with. Good luck!
  13. If you enter "Temecula" in the Quick Search box at the top of the page you'll see it's been almost two years since anyone reported a Priceline win in Temecula. There's no recent bid history to rely on then. Hotwire's only Temecula option is a 2.5* for $146. It has a POOL icon but I don't think you're shopping in that price range. Since this is a last minute bid and there are no rebid zones my suggestion is to bid $60 for a 2* and if that doesn't work maybe take the Motel 6 for $70. If the pool is a MUST then Motel 6 would be safer than bidding 2*, since you know M6 has the pool. Temecula gets hot in summer and I think most any hotel there would have a pool, but it's not guaranteed. Please use this PRICELINE link if you try for 2*, and let us know how it goes. Good luck! edit to add: I hadn't seen your posts above. Sorry your 2* bid was rejected. Sunday night is likely less expensive than Saturday. If you're willing to switch hotels I'd try $60 for 2.5* on Sunday night only. Then if accepted try Add a Night for Saturday night, or stay at Motel 6 that night.
  14. What are your travel dates? There's always some chance an unreported hotel will come up for the first time. I can't say what the odds are. Have you checked Hotwire to see if a hotel with POOL icon is showing for your dates? Please use these HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links for your puchases.
  15. My best guess is the Warwick. A moderator will merge this with your other thread for these dates. Then please keep all posts for this stay in one thread. Thanks!
  16. These icons haven't been reported before. Manchester Grand, Sheraton Marina, the W, and Westin are all possibilities (they all have the same 4/5 TripAdvisor rating). I lean towards Sheraton Marina because that's the only one (to my knowledge) that has an Airport Shuttle. Sheraton hasn't been reported with Spa icon before but they do have a Spa. If you purchase please use this HOTWIRE link and let us know what you get.
  17. The convention is at the San Diego Covention Center downtown but Comic-Con is such a huge event that it affects prices all over San Diego County---all the way up to Carlsbad and Oceanside! Have you looked at HOTWIRE? They hardly have anything in San Diego on 7/22 and what's there is way high. These are the nearest options to Sea World: 4* SeaWorld-Mission Bay $336 3.5* La Jolla $407 2.5* Downtown-Harbor Island $322 PRICELINE usually beats Hotwire on price, but that could still mean $250+ for this peak demand date. For a hotel near the beach I think you might do better in Orange County that weekend--maybe Laguna or Huntington Beach. Since you're coming from Ontario those are sort of along the route. Please let us know what you decide or ask if you have other questions. Please use these HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links for your puchases.
  18. If you check the Priceline Hotel List you'll see no 3.5* hotels have been reported to the board in San Jose zone, so an upgrade to 4* seems likely. If Priceline has 3* and 4* hotels in a zone, but no 3.5*, they'll still usually display a 3.5* bidding option, even though winning a 3.5* hotel isn't possible. The bedbug report on TripAdvisor looks fictional to me. In my opinion the majority of bedbug reports on TripAdvisor are fictional. The bedbug report was from someone who registered that day, posted about bedbugs, then never posted again. If Marriott really had bedbugs there would likely be multiple bedbug reports, not one, and some of them would come from longtime TripAdvisor posters. Hope you enjoy a bite-free 4* stay.
  19. mmc923, The hotels choose which icons they want to display and the icon lists aren't exhaustive. Many hotels with a pool don't display a Pool icon. Ditto for Restaurant and Fitness Center. If you'd like help with your own stay please start a NEW TOPIC including your travel dates.
  20. This appears to be a match for the Chancellor Hotel. It's unusual for a 3* hotel to have a 4.5/5 TripAdvisor rating. I'm not sure I understand your comment about the map. The map link attached to the listing brings me to a map of Hotwire's USW zone now, as it should, not USE. Priceline and Hotwire define the Downtown SF zones differently. Chancellor's in USE on Priceline, but in USW on Hotwire. If you purchase please use this HOTWIRE link and let us know what you get.
  21. auburnfan, The OP hasn't reported back if he purchased or not. If you'd like help with an upcoming stay please start a NEW TOPIC including your travel dates and someone will be happy to assist.
  22. Searching on 3 adults/0 children I see a 4* in Fisherman's Wharf for $125 with these: Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Laundry, Highspeed This matches previous reports for Hyatt FW and the 4/5 TripAdvisor matches Hyatt, so that would be my best guess. BUT.... Hyatt FW is showing SOLD OUT for 11/18-11/21 on Hyatt's website, and on Expedia and Orbitz. It's only Sat night 11/19 that's sold out. 11/18 and 11/20 are available at $209. There's an outside chance these are new icons for Sheraton FW, which is $182 those nights, but I think Hyatt's more likely. Earlier you said you wanted USE or USW and if that's still true I think you can get something in those zones, but closer to November. If you want to secure something now then this FW option at $125 looks like a good deal. Since Hyatt shows SOLD OUT this deal is likely to disappear from Hotwire soon. If you purchase please use this HOTWIRE link and let us know what you get.
  23. I dont know what's going on in San Diego that weekend but rates are very high. Most of the Downtown 4* that have rooms available are over $300. Hotwire only has two options Downtown: a 3* in Gaslamp North for $198 and a 1* in Downtown-Harbor Island for $113. No 4* at all. (Hotwire has three Downtown zones and on a typical night they'd be offering a 4* option in all three.) If you want to beat your $170 rate at the Marriott my suggestion is to bid for a 3.5* or 3* Downtown. If either of those options interest you let us know and someone will offer a strategy. Please use this PRICELINE link for your purchases and searches.
  24. Which Friday night are you talking about? I hope it's not Friday, July 22 because that's Comic-Con weekend and prices are sky high.
  25. The W Westwood is in Westwood-Century City zone and you didn't include WW-CC in your bidding, if you were hoping to win that hotel on Priceline. If any of the hotels in WW-CC are acceptable you might win a 4* in that zone for less than the $120 you've bid. Hotwire is no help here. Their 4* in BH-WH and WW-CC cost more than your $170 back up.
