  1. Hope this is convenient to EWR for my flight to Toronto. I bid on the EWR-Newark zones up to $50 for 3*'s and up to $42 for 2.5*.
  2. Got rejected at $35 which I have booked for before and rejected also at $37. I needed a room locally as we are getting kicked out of rez. officially that very night. School is finally done for the academic year!!!! :)
  3. Actually, they never even had the chance to profit as we paid a bare minimum ... for example, a Toronto bid that cost PL $30 but we paid $45 which include the fees, taxes and an over-bid ... this would still only cost us sales tax on the $30. The over-bid is clearly taxable as it is not stated to be part of the service fee. PL also had a problem as to what or whose sales tax rate they should use to charge us for that extra amount .... Now, they can just pay whomever and pocket the extra. What is PL ... an intermediary, a re-seller .... all of this has been questioned by the investigation???
  4. Oh good God ... I wish I wasn't in the middle of exams so I can keep track of this un-freaken-believable change. As Bturner commented, I am still in 'shock' too. This is good for Priceline no doubt and steals from us the chance of calculating the lowest price and essentially, screwing us over ...!!! The real reason for this change... This is in response to them being suspected of not paying enough taxes ... they have been under investigation for while now. It is/was true .... as we would pay taxes on the portion that it costed PL. The balance went 'un-taxed'.
  5. Out of curiousity ... did you try to bid this on Priceline at all???
  6. Yes, you are right, this is in MTS!!! The 'Times Square' in their name always throws me off... "Hotel 41 Times Square"
  7. I have bid for the last month for a room in Ithaca up to $70 for even a 1* and no luck. I studied the surrounding areas and guessed that the 2.5* in Horseheads might be the Hilton Garden Inn or at worst, the Holiday Inn. I even called the Hilton and asked if they took PL reservations and the girl working said she gets them often from travel agents. This hotel was a welcome surprse to try something new!!! The lowest price on their website is an internet saver of $67. Expedia lists it as a 2* for $83. I did bid up to $46 before and all bids were rejected. Taxes are $5.76 and the rate shown on their website 12%. Country Inn And Suites Big Flats 105 East Mall Road Big Flats, New York 14845 607-739-9205 They offer, free cont. breakfast, indoor pool and a hot tub, and fitness room. 8. taxes $2.40 = $40 I was expecting the Westin Morristown (even after reading the horrible reviews about it on tripadvisor and flyertalk) ... BUT this looks spectacular and I get to discover a new brand!!! www.dolce.com/hamiltonpark
  9. OK before you think this was the overbid of the century ... let me just let you know that based on the taxes ($6.61), this cost PL only $50!!! I was helping a friend bid for a 4* up to $95 and than 3* up to $80 and all were rejected. Finally, we added even more zones and bid again for 4*. Both of us have no clue how the 2.5* button got pushed but sure enough, thats what he got and no upgrade or inflated tax amount. He was still happy though, his first PL bid and wanted anything for around $100.
  10. I just checked on www.jetsgo.net to see if they had any free flights to Toronto left and sure enough they do. You can only book one day in advance and have to stay for at least two days. This includes hotel and a special discount on car rental. This promotion started last weekend and runs this and next weekend as well. Travel begins Thursdays and the latest return date is Tuesday. FYI: after going to the website just click on the pop-up or look for the link for Toronto.
  11. :) :) :o I know exactly how you feel!!! The only positive I can think of is to marvel at the system itself and how within literally seconds of a bid acceptance, our reservation is entered into system Hilton, Marriott, American Airlines or whomever accepts. PL would lose credibility as a supplier if they had to go in to make changes. I also am curious whether Expedia, Hotwire, and the others would be so strict on their 'no refund or changes' policies. On the other hand, I can think of 30% of my reservations that I would have gone back to change had I been allowed to. I just saw the post today about the Waterfront Radisson in Cinncinati and I would now easily swap my trip from Cleveland to there. A final note, I remember my first few bids and how careful I was before clicking to the next page ... it is us regulars/veterans that genius our way from bid to bid that make the mistakes. BUT we sure as hell have nowhere else to go but back to PL ...!!!
  12. Got this on my first bid ... I had booked this once before for friends and assumed that they always accept on weekends.
  13. This time is a stop off on my way from Chicago to Washington, DC!!!
  14. Taxes ... $7.56. This is about 6 miles from the airport and has free parking. Most often, it seems that a 3* Hyatt comes up in this zone. I am happy as I have no need for the airport, just a cheap place to stay while checking out the city.
  15. This time, I booked it for some friends BUT I couldn't get two rooms oddly ... will try again. Taxes show the low is $23 and change.
  16. Taxes were 2.82 the first time and 2.62 the second!!! I believe they accept the low rate on weekends and Thurs nights
  17. I rarely have had a problem at check-in or am asked for ID, PL document etc. Even on the credit card for incidentals, they never care whose name is on it... EXCEPT at the Hiton Cherry Hill, NJ/Philly. I called ahead to say that my girlfriend would be flying in early by a few hours ... could they add her name to the reservation. The person replied that is was no problem at all. When I arrived at 3:00am, guess who was fast asleep in the lobby on a sofa. They refused to let her up at all!!! The next day, the front desk manager found the note and was sincerely sorry for the mix-up. She offered a free lunch. The people working the night shift were in fact very nice to her but could not make an exception ... unless she forked out $169 the rack rate for a room. Still, on a PL stay, I guess they do not have to add a name or do anything for that matter.
  18. Interesting, I got that Hampton Inn recently too for an upcoming stay and thought I had 'way' over paid using the 12.45% .... My bid was $39. Looks good though, and they do not charge for parking which is an additional incentive over staying at the Logan Hyatt Harborside.
  19. My parents who live in Whitby, about 40 minutes from downtown are trying to book this. In the Toronto news, they said that on the first day, they had over 10,000 phone calls. Another great Toronto deal is from Jetsgo Air .... which is offering 1,000 free return air tickets each weekend to Toronto with free baseball tickets, one night free hotel and a free day's car rental for every other day purchased. This is available for 3 weekends from Montral, Ottawa or our very own EWR Newark, NJ Airport. I tried for the fun of it and EWR was booked but they actually had availability from Montreal. You can try again next weekend as soon as they release the dates. I think you also have to book one day in advance of your flight. Jetsgo is also offering flights for $74can or $50us each way to Toronto ... I might book May 20th if I don't get a free one!!! The website is... www.jetsgo.net
  20. My guess is "New York New York" as that is the most common one I have seen pop up from Hotwire even when it is not listed in their packages.
  21. I wasn't able to get the Hyatt or Hilton Garden Inn which usually come up in the zone. Hotel looks recently new from their website ... although, that could also mean recently converted from something else (the hint of this is that it has an indoor pool)
  22. From my last bid, I determined the taxes worked out to exactly $35!!!
  23. I made multiple bids for Chicago suberbs ... selected all zones and got this one every single time. Sometimes change is good ... even an Amerisuites. This is the lowest price though based on taxes of $23 and change.
  24. Booked this in three seperate bids .... PL would not accept the nine day bid. Taxes show PL paid $23 and change.
