Hotwire Hotel: Midtown Central 2star?

This hotel has not yet been reported (too scary for most people) and i am in agreement with them... with the sometimes inflated star ratings of HOTWIRE i wouldn't trust them on a truly opaque purchase at the 2* level... especially in NYC!

If this is all your budget allows i'd sooner go with something like the Thirty Thirty which averages $119 for your nites (much cheaper the first two nites, much more expensive the last nite, maybe only stay there the first two nites and then something else the last nite? ... regardless, it's a budget minded property but at least you know what you're getting).

HOWEVER, i don't think either of the above are worthwhile! With HOTWIRE showing a 4* in MTE (believed to be the Grand Hyatt) for $135/nite i think that it would be an extra $25/nite that would be very well spent in ensure your comfort (and perhaps safety).

Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

I currently have 3 back up ressies. $149.00 a night at the Holiday Inn Martinique ( easyclick travel pricematch) $129 a night at the Laquinta ( I stayed there when it was a best western & had no problems) & 140.00 a night at the Ramada New Yorker. It goes w/o saying that I am attending the Big East Tourney & have zeroed in on Hotels near MSG. I may try & grab a 4star as the dates get closer, however, I have the bases covered if Priceline rates are high. Thanks for the quick reply. What have you heard about the Ramada? That is the only one of the three I have not tried yet.

The Ramada New Yorker is considered one of the worst hotels in New York, your other selections are better. There are a lot of reviews Here.

I think that's rather unfair - I've stayed at the Ramada New Yorker 3 times now and I think it's great! Brilliant location and great value for money and it's looking even better now it's all been renovated. You can get the tube from JFK direct to the door which saves quite a bit in taxi fares too.

Pops, welcome to BetterBidding, but that was rather fair assessment of the Ramada 3-1/4 years ago when Katies Mom compared it to the other hotel choices. Even today, there are still plenty of mixed reviews for the Ramada, especially the recent one on Tripadvisor that mentioned a rodent stuck in the radiator.
