LoneStar Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 Not sure how to link it, but I received an email tonight from Hotwire saying a "major supplier" was making rooms available for $23. There are several cities listed. I clicked on a few and it seems to be a 2-star with a kitchenette, and the dates seems to be clustered around X-mas day. Not sure what fits that description -- must be a low end extended stay property.Probably not the deal of a lifetime, unless you happen to be travelling to one of those cities, don't yet have firm travel plans for X-mas, and are willing to accept a hotwire 2-star (given the "2 star quality level" of the hotwire 3-stars I've stayed in, it would initially give me some pause). Perhaps also acceptable for putting up out-of-town guests (who aren't too fussy)?
WillTravel Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 I wonder if that offer is related to this thread:http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?act...hl=extendedstay
thereuare Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 I also comented about this tonite in this HOTWIRE thread where the user's hotel was $23/nite. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
dahammer Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 Hotwire charges a whopping $9.95 in taxes and fees for this $23 room bringing the "walk out" price to $32.95 If booked directly with Extended Stay using the $19.99 promotion rate, and with taxes estimated at 12%, the final cost is $22.39.
LoneStar Posted December 22, 2004 Author Report Posted December 22, 2004 Incredible. If this is what it seems, Hotwire is simply marking up one its supplier's promos. Pretty shameful for a discounter/consolidator, but then Hotwire has never seemed to have its act completely together. From my email, here are the cities this promo is being offered, by regionChicago - Lisle - Naperville BOOK NOW > Chicago - Oak Brook - Downers Grove BOOK NOW > Chicago - Vernon Hills BOOK NOW > Cleveland - Hopkins Intl Airport CLE BOOK NOW > Columbus - Dublin BOOK NOW > Dayton - Dayton South - Miamisburg BOOK NOW > Dayton - Fairborn BOOK NOW > Detroit - Warren - Sterling Heights BOOK NOW > Kansas City - Independence BOOK NOW > Peoria, Illinois BOOK NOW > St. Louis - Lambert Intl Airport STL BOOK NOW > Atlanta - Alpharetta BOOK NOW > Atlanta - Kennesaw - Woodstock BOOK NOW > Atlanta - Norcross BOOK NOW > Birmingham - Colonnade - Inverness BOOK NOW > Charlotte - Arrowood - Executive Park BOOK NOW > Columbus, Georgia BOOK NOW > Dallas - Fort Worth - Dallas North - Galleria BOOK NOW > Dallas - Fort Worth - Lewisville BOOK NOW > Fayetteville, North Carolina BOOK NOW > Houston - NW Houston - Brookhollow BOOK NOW > Jackson - Jackson North - Ridgeland BOOK NOW > Jacksonville - SE Jacksonville BOOK NOW > Lake Charles - Sulphur BOOK NOW > Macon, Georgia BOOK NOW > Nashville - Brentwood BOOK NOW > Orlando - Altamonte Springs - Winter Park BOOK NOW > Orlando - Universal and Sea World Area BOOK NOW > Raleigh - Durham - Cary BOOK NOW > Baltimore - Columbia - Jessup BOOK NOW > Norfolk - Virginia Beach - Chesapeake BOOK NOW > Richmond - Richmond West - Glen Allen BOOK NOW > Williamsburg - Yorktown - Newport News/Williamsburg Intl Airport PHF BOOK NOW > Denver - Denver North - Thornton BOOK NOW > Los Angeles - Arcadia BOOK NOW > Los Angeles - LA Intl Airport LAX BOOK NOW > Los Angeles - Long Beach BOOK NOW > Los Angeles - Torrance - Carson - Gardena BOOK NOW > Oakland - East Bay - Walnut Creek - Concord BOOK NOW Orange County - Costa Mesa BOOK NOW > Sacramento - Rancho Cordova - Folsom BOOK NOW > San Diego - Kearny Mesa - Stadium Area BOOK NOW > San Jose - Newark - Fremont BOOK NOW > My guess is that there's a $19.99 rate available at all of them through Extended Stay America!FWIW, ownership of Hotwire is going to change in the next few months -- at least a little. Barry Diller is spinning off his travel websites into a company that will be called Expedia, and Hotwire will be part of this new company. I don't think Hotwire will get new management out of this, but perhaps they'll get more corporate attention.
thereuare Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 ... and perhaps some Studio Plus hotels as well (i believe same ownership) and the link i provided above shows a Studio Plus at $23/nite.
