BestValue
Hello! As a frequent user of PL. I would like to see a separate catogory for the extended stay hotels, they just don`t compare with a normal hotel. Such as daily housekeeping and type of bedding (one bed). I do a annual ski vacation with my teenage daughter, and afraid to use PL because of this. Help me? Link to comment
WillTravel
You could use Priceline, but only bid for a 3* or higher. But you do run a risk of getting only one bed. My philosophy has always been that if I have to run out and get a sleeping bag, that's what I'd do, although obviously I'd prefer not to. So far I've always been able to get at least two twin beds, but you can't count on that everywhere. You could use Hotwire and probably eliminate any risk altogether. Just do a search for 2 adults and 1 child. Then you will for sure get two beds. You can probably tell by the star level and amenities whether it's an extended stay facility. Link to comment
dahammer
we have an Aero Bed that inflates into a single-sized bed for one of our kids, it works great in a pinch and I have even used it when we rented a houseboat. We also use it for kids' sleep overs as well. Link to comment
BestValue
Here is the reply from PL customer service, regarding the request for a separate category for "extended stay hotels":Thank you for taking the time to send us an e-mail. We appreciate that you took the time to send us your comments, as we are always looking for ways to improve our service. Your comments have been forwarded on to our ProductDevelopment team so they can make future improvements to our service. Moreover, our partner hotels, known and trusted for their quality, service and amenities, are among the best name-brand and quality independent hotels in the country. We screen participating hotels carefully to ensure that you always receive the best available hotel. Participating hotels include motels, extended stay hotels, full service hotels, limited service hotels and resorts. Except in the case of resorts, choosing a specific type of property is not an option. Due to contractual agreements with our hotel partners, we are unable to provideyou with a list of hotels participating in our service. You do not have the option to select a specific hotel. You choose the city and specify areas within the city, you choose the quality star level, and you name a price. Based on these entries, we will search for a hotel that matches your criteria. If we find a hotel that is willing to accept your request, we purchase the reservation immediately in orderto secure your rate. thereuare
Regarding daily housekeeping, Priceline states this under their descriptions of 2.5* properties:While hotel services may be somewhat limited, 24-hour Front Desk and daily housekeeping services are providedSo you could avoid the housekeeping issue by keeping your minimum quality at 2.5* or higher. As far as bed configuration, you can't guarantee that at any star level. If two or more beds is important to your stay than i think Hotwire's new development of selecting more than double occupany is the best solution.I understand both sides of the situation. As users we would like to be able to make sure the bedding configuration suits our needs, but on the other side of the coin Priceline is selling distressed inventory at rock-bottom prices, and a trade-off needs to be made in exchange for the much lower prices. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
