We hope you'll like your stay. The other hotel is a 2.5* that's why you didn't get that. Please use the site's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links to start future purchases.Yellowdog.
Colfax Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 This used to be the Travelodge and it's a rough location at Polk and Ellis. VERY Tenderloin.Hotwire reservations are nonrefundable but I'd still call and request a cancellation based on the TripAdvisor reviews, especially if you've booked a multi-night stay. Can't hurt to ask and for $68 you can do much better.
binarynut Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 As for the Cathedral Hill Hotel, high on my list, this is from the website's reservation page:CATHEDRAL HILL HOTEL CLOSURE ANNOUNCEMENT - The last evening the Cathedral Hill Hotel will be able to accommodate overnight guests is October 30, 2009. The Cathedral Hill Hotel will cease operations on October 31, 2009.
Colfax Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 Sutter Health owns the Cathedral Hill Hotel. They're going to demolish it and build a new hospital on the site.
sfntvintx Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 Sutter Health owns the Cathedral Hill Hotel. They're going to demolish it and build a new hospital on the site.Wow. That's a shocker. I don't think there's anything left on Van Ness from when I lived there. Guess a hospital there makes sense though. (Sorry to be OT.)
Colfax Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 I won't miss the Cathedral Hill Hotel (never stayed there) but I'll miss their parking garage. The Cathedral Hill is across the street of Tommy's Joynt, a hofbrau style restaurant where I like to have lunch. The Cathedral Hill's garage validated parking for Tommy's customers for $1.50 or $2.00. Once the hospital opens I doubt they'll let Tommy's cusomters park for cheap any more.
