I'm trying to get my girlfriend out to San Diego for a vacation weekend (she's never been to CA) and Hotwire is showing a 4 star in Gaslamp for $115 per night. Amenities include No Smoking, Fitness, Restuarant, Business Center, Internet. I have looked at other posts that suggest Hilton Bayfront or Solomar but they reference amenities like pool and tennis so I am guessing not one of them? Any help?

They also have a 4.5 star for $122 with fitness, restaurant, business center and internet. US Grant?

Sorry if this is an tired question, I rarely travel personally so I am new to the Hotwire thing. Thanks!

4* I can't get the same hotel to appear. Can you please run a new search and confirm that you still se this hotel. Are you searching for 2 adults?

4.5* You have to search for 2 adults/1 child to ID this hotel. In your new search will see the hotel with Smoke free, fitness, restaurant, business center and internet. This is amatch for previous reported U.S. Grant Hotel.

I used the Ho.twire link again and I think it still shows the same hotel. 4 star Gaslamp Quarter - Convention Center for $112 per night. Amenities include No Smoking, Fitness, Restaurant, Business Center and Internet.

They list Intercontinental, Hyatt and Omni as their examples of four-stars but I am sure these are the same examples they put on all 4 star listings. What is throwing me is the lack of a pool - other posts I have found here for 4 stars in Gaslamp always list a pool. I'm actually more interested in the four star v. the 4.5 because my guess on the 4.5 is the US Grant and I've had a bad room there before w/work so I wouldn't mind trying something else. Thanks for your help (and fast response!).

HOWEVER, it all may be a moot point as this is what i would do if this works for your needs:

Change your HOTWIRE search to 2adults/2children and a 'new' 4* appears in this zone for the same price (within a few dollars) with:

Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business and a Tripadvisor rating of 3.5/5.0 with 160+ reviews.

If you are able to get the offering above appear, this is a match for the Westin Gaslamp Quarter and that would be my best guess. This may be the same property we're all seeing on our own searches, but with changing amenities. However, if you're interested in this property it would be best to try to target when appearing with the 'full list' of amenities i've posted above and with the added confirmation of the tripadvisor info.

Many hotels with a pool don't display a Pool icon on Hotwire. The HOTWIRE icons are frequently just a sample of a hotel's full amenities--not an exhaustive list.

Sorry for the delayed response but I had to travel this week for work and was not able to get back to this. I went ahead and booked this hotel last night and you were right, it was the Westin. I did as you said and booked for 2 adults & 2 children and it showed amenities of Pool, Restaurant, Internet, No Smoking and a Business Center. I also had the TripAdvisor rating of 3.5 aand 160 reviews. The best part is that I booked at $103. Thank you all so much for your help.

Also, I booked the a room night before (8/27) at a 3.5* in the Irvine/Orange County Airport area that listed a Hotel Shuttle, Pool, Restaurant, Internet, No Smoking and a Business Center for $54. This turned out to be the Doubletree John Wayne Airport, so another great win! Thanks again for your help.
