Priceline Hotel: Santa Barbara Hotel

Hi!

Been bidding on 3 star Santa Barbara hotel on PRICELINE (presume its Hotel Oceana), started at $80,now up to $95.Anyone know what sort of bid should get me a room at this hotel on PRICELINE. Looking to stay 1 night,13th July.Thanks

$95 sounds like a realistic bid but you may be bidding too early for July.

Type "Santa Barbara" into the QuickSearch box at the top of the homepage and you'll see there's only been one reported 3* acceptance in Santa Barbara so far in 2009. $95 was accepted by Oceana two weeks before the stay.

Another bidder went to $140 and was rejected, but she was bidding more than two months in advance.

Two datapoints aren't a lot to build a theory around, but it looks like Oceana might not give Priceline rooms until nearer the travel dates. How near I can't say.

The night you want is a Monday, which is in your favor. (Weekends are tougher.)

If you're unwilling to bid higher than $95 now you might find that $95 gets accepted later.

I got rejected for $ 97 for Saturday night 06/06, so that didn't work for a weekend, bidding 4 days in advance.

Where did you end up booking? For Saturday night HOTWIRE only has one hotel in Santa Barbara---a 2.5* at $224!

Most money I ever paid for a PRICELINE hotel.

Rejected less than 48 hours prior on my bid for 06/06/09 - 06/07/09 Saturday night at $ 101.

$105 rebid with free zone priceline bid accepted at Hotel Oceana.
