ashbudd Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 I resently, in the course of two days, submitted two bids for hotels in Napa, one for 4* (bid: 170) and one for 3 1/2* (bid: 110): both came back with identical counteroffers of $194 , and indicated that there would likely be a "resort fee" of $15 added to the charge. Based on prior posts, that sounds likely to be Vino Bello --- but why would I get the same counter for both 3 1/2* and 4*? Not very reassuring that I'm getting my money's worth at the 4* range! If anyone has any advice or prior experience -- or else a different explanation for the duplicate counteroffer --- I'd appreciate it.
AaronJB Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 The only thing I can think of would be that the 4* is the counter-offer, and the 3.5* counter-offer would be PRICELINE upgrading you to 4* if you took the counter-offer at 3.5*.Rather unusual. If you would like us to see if we can find other options, please provide dates of travel. Please use the site's PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to start your purchases.
ashbudd Posted April 14, 2009 Author Report Posted April 14, 2009 Plan is from Saturday 5/2 to Monday 5/4, in Napa-proper (not Sonoma, Fairfield, etc.); sorry for leaving that out earlier.
Colfax Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 Priceline will usually accept less than their counteroffer. If you want this hotel I would try $175 or $180 next time. I don't know if this is Vino Bello but have you checked Vino Bello's rate for those days, so that you'll know if $180 + fee is a good price? The best deal isn't always on Priceline.Hotwire has a 4* in Napa for $209. It's probably the same hotel.
