KDBELLE Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 I have bid so far 68 and gone up to 77 one both north and south strip with a start at 4*'s and even went down to 3.5*....I got no counter bid, just a "we're sorry" and basically told me what to change and re-bid....So.....Any suggestions on what to do/bid for this particular weekend? (4-17 & 4-18) As far as hotels are concerned....we were hoping to stay at treasure island (north), or any 4 star in the south and were hoping to pay under $80.....ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!! :)
AaronJB Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 I'm not sure what's going on on this particular weekend, but prices are quite high. The lowest priced 4* on the strip on Orbitz is $254 and a number of 4*'s are sold out. There is a 4* in Near Strip South on HOTWIRE for $109 for these dates. You're going to need a higher bid, given the traffic on these dates. Given the HOTWIRE $109 price, you may be successful with a 4* on the strip on PRICELINE in the neighborhood of $82-87.Please use the site's PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links.
odysseus Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 There's a really large convention starting then, plus the tail end of another moderate one, so there aren't going to be any late cancellations or special deals. You won't get a 4* in the south at that price. You'll either have to look off-strip, increase your budget, or go to a lower level.
KDBELLE Posted April 11, 2009 Author Report Posted April 11, 2009 Thanks!! And yes, we've definately noticed the sold out and higher prices for this weekend :) Ok, so we've officially tried $85 for the north and south 4*......even adding boulder and nellis when asked to change criteria....All we got was a counter bid for $180...NO WAY!!!! So now we're off to try a few more dollars added to that bid before having to go to a lower star rating or off the strip. Any other suggestions anyone? Also, We did get Planet Hollywood on HOTWIRE for $72 something with taxes.....do you think there's any chance we could call the hotel and reserver the other two nights there for a lower rate than there normal weekend rate? After bidding PRICELINE again I will update and let yall know what happens and where we're going from here :)

KDBELLE Posted April 12, 2009 Author Report Posted April 12, 2009 can you post the details of your Planet Hollywood HOTWIRE purchase?thanks!Surely can!!! :)
Colfax Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 Thanks for posting your Planet Hollywood win, KDBELLE.Ok, so we've officially tried $85 for the north and south 4*Before you bid for a lower quality level or less preferred zone I'd try to $85 for a 4* one more time on Monday afternoon or evening.Hotwire and Priceline inventory sometimes sits stagnant over the weekend. Then there can be a "refresh" with new inventory on Monday after hotel revenue managers return to work and review projected occupancy for the coming week. I can't say that will happen in your case but unless you need to secure something today I think it's worth one more shot on Monday, before you start looking at Plan B.

KDBELLE Posted April 13, 2009 Author Report Posted April 13, 2009 Oh and i have a few more questions should you come across here again before we do our bidding tomorrow...Do you think we'd have a better chance bidding 4* strip north for TI OR 4* strip south for NYNY, MGM, Planet Holywood, Luxor or Westin.....AND do you think bidding at 3.5 stars could increase our chances at all either? With the possible and not too bad fall back of Monte Carlo???
yellowdog Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Do you think we'd have a better chance bidding 4* strip north for TI OR 4* strip south for NYNY, MGM, Planet Holywood, Luxor or Westin.....Nort and South are diffrent zones so you can bid the equal amount in both.AND do you think bidding at 3.5 stars could increase our chances at all either? With the possible and not too bad fall back of Monte Carlo???Try your maximum for 4* first. if you reach the limit, start over at a lower amount for 3.5*. And you must be open for any 3.5* hotel inc MC.Yellowdog.

Might have to settle for off the strip hotels.
erikinthecity Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 Miss USA is at Planet Hollywood. I am looking for this weekend, and saw what I thought was Planet pop up on Hotwire for $159. Now that I know Miss USA is there, I am not so sure.
