mavisjavis Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 I care more about the neighborhood than the * level. The maps are different on HOTWIRE and PRICELINE. my dates are 4.9.09 to 4.15.09.do you know how i can get a room in that neighborhood? second choice would be Vatican City.
Geoffrey123 Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 It does not look as though the PRICELINE map includes that area in the Central Zone.
WillTravel Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 It's true Priceline does not have a name your own price zone for Trastevere. As I posted on another thread, for HOTWIRE, "A small part of the Rome West zone includes Trastevere, but you are much more likely to get a hotel inconveniently situated. If you compare the zone map to a Trastevere map, you will see what I mean."You're going during Easter, and that is going to be a busy time, so I would suggest considering booking a backup hotel you can cancel. What is the best deal you have seen when you have looked conventionally? If you want Trastevere, your only real choice is to book conventionally. Trastevere mostly has small hotels and B&Bs that don't participate with Priceline or Hotwire. If you want a hotel near Vatican City, I'd again think about booking conventionally. The zones are set up in such a way that you might not get a hotel where you want it otherwise.
mavisjavis Posted February 14, 2009 Author Report Posted February 14, 2009 does anyone know what the 4 star hotel in Vatacan City is? priceline said this morning that a customer booked 4 star hotel in Vatacan City for $99. a night.priceline is offering two 4 star hotels in vatacan city on the conventional side. one is Ripa which looks fine and has a good location, but the other is atlantis star or something like that and has pretty bad reviews.
mavisjavis Posted February 14, 2009 Author Report Posted February 14, 2009 help identify 4* vatican citymy dates are 4.9.09 to 4.15.09.PRICELINE says customer booked $99. for 4 * in vatacan city. thanks mavis
thereuare Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 With PRICELINE there are no clues given regarding the hotel you will receive on any given purchase, so there is no way to determine which hotel in the zone you will receive. As well, while there is a lot of overlap, the "retail" adn the "name your own price" sides of PRICELINE use a different inventory of hotels, and each property that participates in one side of the service does not necessarily participate in the other side of the service, so there is a chance you could also receive a hotel other than the two you've listed above. mavisjavis Posted March 2, 2009 Author Report Posted March 2, 2009 After 3 rejected bids for 4 * in Vatican City Rome, April 9,10,11, Priceline told me to raise bid to$133.00 for 4 *. I did and got Atlante Garden
