Colfax Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 This was reported to me by friends. First bid of $50 for 3* was accepted. The Tradewinds Sandpiper charges an additional $25/night Resort fee!
dahammer Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 The Tradewinds Sandpiper charges an additional $25/night Resort fee!this is outrageous, I can't believe that HOTWIRE would not disclose such a high resort fee before purchase.
thereuare Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 This was reported to me by friends. First bid of $50 for 3* was accepted. The Tradewinds Sandpiper charges an additional $25/night Resort fee! Thanks for passing this along.this is outrageous, I can't believe that HOTWIRE would not disclose such a high resort fee before purchase. To be fair, this was on PRICELINE.HOTWIRE does disclose this before purchase (at least for the Tradewind Island Grand property... i couldn't look up the Tradewinds Sandpiper since this stay was in the past):This hotel typically charges all guests a resort fee regardless of how the room is booked. The hotel collects this fee of about $25 per room per night directly from you, so it won't show in your Hotwire Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Colfax Posted January 28, 2009 Author Report Posted January 28, 2009 Here's how the Tradewinds' website explains their $25/night resort fee:Resort Amenity FeeMany incidental and a la carte charges have been eliminated and those amenities are now included in the $25.00 Resort Amenity Fee, a required nightly fee, providing services such as cabanas, paddleboats, tennis, parking, wireless internet, and more.I'm not very familiar with Florida but $25 seems higher than what I hear other comparable hotels charging for resort fees. My friends tried to get the fee deleted, through the hotel and through Priceline, and they did not have success.
