markthebiz Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 Hi there,Hoping someone can answer my question: I'm trying to book a hotel in the Cupertino/Campbell section of San Jose. The hotel we'd like it the Pruneyard Plaza, listed as a 2.5 property. When I go to Priceline, there are many types of starred listings, including a 3 and a 3 1/2. The betterbidding price list only lists a 4 and a 2.5.Is there any further info you have on this property? Thanks!Mark
slick_gd Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 The hotel lists on this site are by no means a comprehensive compilation of all the hotels offered on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. While they may be quite accurate for the popular zones and destinations (i.e. Chicago Downtown, New York Downtown, Las Vegas Strip, etc.) they might not be much information about the zones that aren't as popular. With that said, there is no way to pinpoint which hotel you are going to get on PRICELINE, it's really a shot in the dark. To get a better idea of some of the hotels you could possible end up with, I would suggest searching through the regular not name-your-price section of PRICELINE. This will list some of the hotels in each star rating that you may get. Keep in mind that it is not guaranteed that the hotels available for each service will be the same. You could get a different hotel using the name-your-price that you couldn't find the other route. If you are trying to narrow down a specific hotel HOTWIRE may be a better bet as you are given more information about the hotel and could possibly narrow it down based on the amenities and tripadvisor traveler review rating (if given). What are the dates of your stay and we can maybe look at some other options.
Colfax Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 In Priceline's retail listings the Pruneyard Inn is still rated 2.5* today. If you want it you should bid for a 2.5*. But as slick_gd points out, there's no guarantee the Pruneyard's the 2.5* you'd win, or that your bid won't be upgraded to 3*.
markthebiz Posted January 5, 2010 Author Report Posted January 5, 2010 Sorry for the long delay in responding to this one, but we ended up with the Crowne Plaza Mipitas for $69 per night. The hotel was nothing special, but we had no complaints either.
thereuare Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 Did you book this thru PRICELINE, HOTWIRE, or directly with the hotel? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
markthebiz Posted January 5, 2010 Author Report Posted January 5, 2010 We booked through HOTWIRE, using the Betterbidding links.
AaronJB Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 Thank you for the follow-up. It would be greatly appreciated if you could confirm the amenities that were showing with this listing (this information is available in your HOTWIRE account using the link on the top right of their home page), the star rating and provide the date/s of travel. Thanks. :)
