Rejected bids:

$70/2.5* Pasadena

$52/2* Pasadena

I got a $14 counteroffer to the $52. No free rebid zones for 2* so I couldn't undercut the counteroffer. I tried $55 for 1* then, which was risky, and got upgraded to the 2* Pasdena Inn. Whew!

Pasadena Inn

400 South Arroyo Parkway

Pasadena, CA 91105

Best rate online was $89. Hotwire had a 2* in Pasadena for $69.

I'm leery of 2* hotels with no brand affiliation but this one turned out pretty well. It's motel style with parking in front of your door. One wing is two stories and another wing three stories. Room very clean and looked recently renovated with new carpet, drapes, and furniture in good shape. Parking, internet, and breakfast all free. Outdoor pool much appreciated with temps over 100. Microwave and fridge in room.

Location is convenient, just a few block walk to Colorado Avenue. Whole Foods a block away and Trader Joe's two blocks. Thai restaurant and a gourmet cupcake shop attached to the motel. Didn't try them. Metro's Gold Line stops a block away. Comfortable train to Downtown LA for $1.25 each way.

I was there Weds & Thurs night. I tried Add a Night for Friday and was rejected without a counteroffer, even though the hotel showed availability on its website.

Colfax, Thanks very much for reporting this! I am looking for a room in the first week of July in the area and there's not much available at the 2.5* level. Between this and the possible Homestead/ESA hotels in the Arcadia area, which one do you think is better? Thanks!

I've never stayed at Homestead or ESA in Arcadia so I can't comment on them. Generally I prefer Homesteads over ESAs, but I'd choose "Box C" over either. One of the reasons I bid Pasadena rather than Arcadia or Burbank/Glendale zones is that there are no ESA properties in Pasadena.

Pasdena Inn has more amenties than ESAs---breakfast, pool, free internet, king sized beds. But the ESAs usually cost less. Pasadena Inn isn't a sure win either. I saw several other hotels along Colorado Ave that were potiential PRICELINE 2*'s---Best Westerns and etc.
