lee1 Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 We are flying out of Philadelphia at 7:15 am on 7/3/08. I want to get a hotel near the airport that has a shuttle and leave the car at the hotel while we are gone for 9 days. I am fine with a 1-3* property as long as the shuttle service runs early enough. I am unsure if I should make a direct reservation which would assure me of what I am getting, or go with Hotwire which lists amenities such as airport shuttles or if there is a Priceline airport location that regularly comes through when a particular star level is bid on in the airport location. Can anyone make a suggestion?
dahammer Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 HOTWIRE has a Shuttle amenity, and there could be a charge for this. When bidding on PRICELINE, you must accept any hotel in the zone you're bidding on and you could always be the first to report a new hotel that is not on the current Pennsylvania Priceline List. I'm not aware of any airport hotels that will allow 9 days of parking unless you make a direct Park and Fly reservation.
thereuare Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 Are you looking for free parking for 9 days or just a place you can leave your car (for a fee?) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
lee1 Posted May 2, 2008 Author Report Posted May 2, 2008 I'm looking for a room for one night with free (if possible) parking for my car while I am gone for the 9 days. I did this once years ago for the PHL airport but not for as many days. With the transparent hotel checking I have done I've seen that some have free parking for 7 days and then a charge after that.
thereuare Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 These are usually "park n fly" deals booked directly with the hotel (note in our support page we have links to most of the major hotel chains and you can use our BetterChecker to assist in your rate search). If you're trying to use an opauque service to accomplish the above i don't think PRICELINE is the answer since you have no way of targeting a particular hotel. The approach i would take is to first research any hotels which would allow you to keep your car there for the entire length of your stay (i think this will be a very limited number of properties). From there search HOTWIRE and see if you an identify any of the hotels offered as those which offer free parking. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you find. lee1 Posted May 2, 2008 Author Report Posted May 2, 2008 Thanks. I thought I might be steered away from PRICELINE for the reasons you stated. However, I thought it might have been possible that there was a "sure bet" on a Priceline property at a particular star level for the airport area. I will provide an update soon.
lee1 Posted May 4, 2008 Author Report Posted May 4, 2008 I decided that PRICELINE was not the way to go in this instance since there was no sure bet of getting a location at any price with free parking during our entire trip. So, I instead went with a low price hotel close to the airport and we will park at an off site airport lot.I used your HOTWIRE link and obtained the Extended Stay America Philadelphia Airport location at 9000 Tinicum Blvd for one night on 7/2/08 for $55 ($69 with taxes, fees). The only listed amenity at Hotwire was a laundry. However, the hotel website also shows a kitchen, with utensils, oven, fridge, microwave. This hotel is now listed as a 2* by Hotwire. Your current pinned list shows it as a 1*.
thereuare Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 Glad to hear you found something which should suit your nees for this trip.Thank you for sharing your results wtih the board and for using our HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase.Have a great trip and enjoy your stay.
