Hotwire Hotel: Hotel needed for San Diego Aug.28 for 4 nts

I have been starting to look for a Hotel for the above dates for the 4 of us(2 Adults, 2 kids) & may use HOTWIRE instead of PRICELINE to make sure we get 2 beds(although we have never had a problem yet in the few times we have used PL).

Best Value, 3.5* MV-HotelCircle, with icons: Fitness, Restaur, Business is showing for $102(was$99). Now that matches the Crowne Plaza. Plus there is a $10 day fee to park. (Also noticed the "savings' of $60, which seems to be absent today on the Hotwire site.)

My question is: WHY would they NOT show the Pool icon? I phoned the CPlaza in San Diego & enquired if their pool was undergoing renovation this summer and they said no. That would be a disaster if I got a Hotel with NO pool!! Their reviews look generally good on Trip Advisor.

Or if anyone has any other ideas of where to stay,etc. that is clean, safe and reasonable price, please post. We plan on going to the Zoo, Legoland, Coronado Beach, Chula Vista Nature Reserve, Old Town and maybe the Wild Animal Park. (We will be driving down from Anaheim on Aug.28 to San Diego in a rental car.) We have stayed previously at Days Inn Hotel Circle and a long time ago in the Town&Country Hotel Circle, and also a 'scary' motel in El Cajon? one time.

I can't help with which areas of San Diego will be best, but i agree that the above matches the Crowne Plaza and that would be our best guess too. Assuming we're correct, why the hotel doesn't show a Pool icon can be any of a number of reasons, including: it was closed for renovations awhile back and they never re-entered the icon to re-appear, they may choose to not show the icon in order to differentiate themselves from another HOTWIRE hotel in the zone, or the opposite could be true that they don't show the icon in order to match a different HOTWIRE hotel.
