Edwin_E Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 I am looking at 3* Philadelphia Intl Airport PHL - Stadium AreaCheckInDate:Sat, May 17, 2008CheckOutnDate:Mon, May 19, 200869$Does anybody know the area? Is it convenient for visiting Philadelphia (we do have a car!)Would you recommend to go to Cherry Hill or Mt. Laurel instead?
dahammer Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 welcome to BetterBidding! Can you please post the amenities HOTWIRE associates with this property? I am familiar with this area.
Edwin_E Posted March 16, 2008 Author Report Posted March 16, 2008 It had Shuttle bus, Fitness Center and restaurantIf you are familiar - what about going to Cherry Hill or Mt. Laurel - I assume that dring to town is not further than from the airport stadium area?
dahammer Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 these HOTWIRE amenities match those of the Airport Holiday Inn located in Essington, just south of the city, about 12 miles from Center City. Two hotels in Cherry Hill are a little closer to Philly (Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza) but you could also end up at the Clarion which gets horrible reviews or end up in Mt. Laurel which is a little further out and would be a longer drive to the city. In short, the distance may be the same, but you will end up on surface roads with traffic lights in the suburban Cherry Hill-Mt.Laurel and have a longer (time) getting into the city. How many are in your party and have you considered PRICELINE? Will you arrive by air or are you driving in? Please use the links on the board if you consider going ahead with a HOTWIRE purchase or PRICELINE bid.
Edwin_E Posted March 16, 2008 Author Report Posted March 16, 2008 THANKS for your help! It's me and my daughter and we will be driving in by car .... sounds like the Airport Holiday in is the better choice ... never tried PRICELINE and don't know which price to quote for!
thereuare Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 Do you mean what price to offer?dahammer knows the area better than i do, but if you're visting the 'tourist' areas, why not stay downtown? (i haven't looked at rates in that area for your dates... are prices out of your budget)If you'd like to pursue PRICELINE let us know which zones you're willing to bid and we'll suggest a strategy to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Edwin_E Posted March 17, 2008 Author Report Posted March 17, 2008 They don't offer many hotels downtown and the price difference is huge (more than 300 vs 69 $) For the difference we can drive a lot of taxi - and prefer to spend the money on restaurants or shopping or.....Yes I thought about the prices - but I might try PRICELINE, starting really low on the Airport area and then going higher anda dding more downtown areas (as there are so expensive, I won't get them anyway - and if it wouldn't hurt)Thanks for all your help - I do hope I can be helpful in Germany at one time....
thereuare Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 If you decide to try PRICELINE let us know all the zone(s) you're willing to accept, your maximum bid, and minimum star rating... we'll then be able to suggest a strategy for you to follow.
