Chris Pang Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 I need some help on booking a hotel room in Boca Raton. My trip is from 2 March to 10 March. As it is quite a long trip, I want to lower the cost on lodging. I don't mind living 2* or even 1* hotels.I have tried to bid at $33 but failed. How much should I try next?By the way, is there any hotel which offer low price for stays longer than a week?
dahammer Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 what are the best rates that you have found by booking directly with a 1 or 2* hotel?
Chris Pang Posted February 24, 2008 Author Report Posted February 24, 2008 what are the best rates that you have found by booking directly with a 1 or 2* hotel?Around 90Is there any hope to pay below $40?
dahammer Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 you can try to bid at these levels, increasing each day by $1 or $2, but remember that Boca Raton is in the High Rent district and the weather should be nice compared to much of the rest of the country. I just checked HOTWIRE and the lowest priced accomodation for your dates of travel was $92 in West Palm Beach, so you may need to revise your budget.
PDB_905 Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 I wouldn't give up too soon, depending on how much time you have. The problem is that with a 1* or 2* level, your re-bidding options are limited. So you may have to wait 24 hours or more between bids. But I have frequently gotten rooms via Priceline for less than half of what was listed anywhere else, so I don't think your $40 target is necessarily all that unreasonable. This should help: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained
