polyj Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 I want to bid a 3 * hotel at SD Mission Valley. Dec 15-17. My maximum is $60. Or I will go with the HOTWIRE offere, which is $63. Please help me with the Strategy. Thank you!
Colfax Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 If you want someone to try and identify the $63 Hotwire hotel please post the hotel's quality level (3*, 3.5* etc) and amenity icons. If Hotwire rates it 3* there's a good chance it's a 2.5* hotel on Priceline.

thereuare Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 The 3* HOTWIRE hotel above is a match for the Holiday Inn so that would be our best guess; and indeed, it is last reported as a 2.5* on priceline. If you're rejected with priceline, would this be acceptable as a back-up, or would you want to raise your maximum bid for a priceline 3 star? polyj Posted November 6, 2007 Author Report Posted November 6, 2007 I think the Holiday Inn is acceptable, since I will not spent too much time in the hotel. I will try to bid a 2.5* in priceline and will report my results here later.
thereuare Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 I'm not sure the suggestion was to bid 2.5* on priceline, as you may get any 2.5* in the zone... are you comfortable with a 2.5* hotel other than the Holiday Inn? polyj Posted November 7, 2007 Author Report Posted November 7, 2007 2.5* is fine for me. I just saw a recent post successfully bid of a 2.5* on priceline, I simply followed that post, started with $44, with mission valley, failed, then added Sorrento Mesa, $45, got through. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $45.00 Subtotal: $90.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $18.10 Total Charges*: $108.10 Lowest rate on the hotel's website is $119/night.I started my bidding at SavingsBarn.com Thanks for the help and the previous post!
