potatohead Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 If I use all my rebid areas to bid on 4-star hotels, is it possible to bid on a 3-star hotel in the one area I want to stay in without waiting 24-hours?
WillTravel Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 Yes, no need to wait. I would close the browser and start a completely new bid for a 3* hotel.
thereuare Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 Please post the details of your stay (city, zone(s), dates, etc) and we will move this thread to a state/country category on the board.Thanks. potatohead Posted June 16, 2006 Author Report Posted June 16, 2006 I'm looking for hotels in Downtown Montreal. I bid up to $105 for 4 star and $65 on 3 star with no luck.
dahammer Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 Please post the details of your stay (city, zone(s), dates, etc)
thereuare Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 It's already been 24 hours since your original bid so i dont think your original question of bidding on a 4* after a 3* still applies. If you let us know your maximum bid and if you prefer a 4* or a 3* we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. potatohead Posted June 17, 2006 Author Report Posted June 17, 2006 My maximum bid is $100. I would prefer a 4-star over a 3-star but either one will do as long as it's under $100. Any suggestions?
thereuare Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Rates are high for your date above, not sure if you'll have success within your budget. At the 4* level you have four re-bid zones; none at the 3* level. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Montreal...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100.If the above is rejected i would then try for a 3* at $60. If/when this too is rejected, wait 24 hours and repeat the above and then increase your 3* bid by $10 from the previous 3* bid.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. thestugots Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 June 25 is the race date of the Grand Prix of Montreal, Formula-1 race. Deals are going to be hard to come by in Montreal that weekend.
potatohead Posted June 19, 2006 Author Report Posted June 19, 2006 So far I'm up to $90 for a 3-star with no takers. The fireworks festival is also taking place that day and I thought it was odd for the prices to be that extravagant just for fireworks. Thanks Thestugots for keeping me informed. Unfortunately my schedule is set. Should I increase my budget? If so, to how much?
thestugots Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Race organizers usually get 300,000 people on the race weekend and 100,000-110,000 people for the actual race on Sunday. Demand on rooms in downtown Montreal will be high. Have you tried in Pointe Claire near Trudeau airport, I've had a bit of luck staying in that area, but my gut tells me anything in metro Montreal is in demand.
