swishbish33 Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 Hey guys.Looking to bid on a 5* hotel on the Vegas strip for 4/12 and 4/13. I'm assuming this is the Venetian? The regular rate for those nights at the Venetian is $169. My max bid would be $120-$140. Any ideas on what my bids on Priceline should be?Thanks.
swishbish33 Posted March 20, 2006 Author Report Posted March 20, 2006 And I will definitely be using the links that help support Betterbidding.com
Blueskies Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 Since you have a while and you can rebid every 24 hours I would lowball. I won the Venetian last year for $99 when it showed the same website rate of $169. Have not seen $99 wins lately but they may be out there. Worth a try in my view.Good luck
thereuare Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 At the 5* level in Las Vegas you have seven re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* Strip....Bid $99, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. swishbish33 Posted March 20, 2006 Author Report Posted March 20, 2006 The gist of rebidding seems to be, bid for the 5*, get rejected, add a zone that does not contain a 5*, get a free rebid, bid again at a higher interval.I think I'll try this strategy out later tonight. Thanks guys.
swishbish33 Posted March 20, 2006 Author Report Posted March 20, 2006 Blueskies --How many days before you were to check-in did you win the Venetian for $99? I tried bidding just now up to $115 and was rejected, and was counter-offered $133. Still great savings, but I would like to get it lower if possible. Any suggestions? Try again tomorrow?
Blueskies Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 Swishbish33It was back in early March for an early July date (mid week). See post below. Priceline Las Vegas VenetianWith a counter bid of $133 you must be pretty close. I would try again tomorrow after your 24 hours are up but I would be confident you are will get it between $115 and $122. Hotwire are offering for $153 so 20 % off this rate is $122.I will see how you get on tomorrow.Good luck
dahammer Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 swishbish33, did you follow the bidding advice of thereuare? If you got a rejection at $115 and then a counteroffer at $133, you are very close to success! Was that your 4th bid? You should then have a four rebids available.
swishbish33 Posted March 21, 2006 Author Report Posted March 21, 2006 I had two rebids left for the day, and I nailed it at $122. I'm happy with this, almost $100 in savings. Sure, I maybe could have held out to keep it around $115, but I didn't feel like pressing my luck. Thanks for everyone's help, and the links that support betterbidding.com!
dahammer Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 that's great, what was your previously rejected bid?
