If anyone's posted a win on this before, I missed it - it's gotten poor reviews, but a few decent ones. Wondering if that's why so many bid on 2.5* in this area.

Seems to be all King beds, no double-bedded rooms, which is fine. If it's unpleasant, I'll post a review to advise others.

This is for our 1st anniversary - I'm wondering if I should call in advance & see if there is anything they can do to assign us a room that is less "moldy" than some of the rooms I've seen reported. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the site & everyone's experiences & advice!

Thank you for sharing your win with the board and for starting your purchase with the links at SavingsBarn.com

I would phone or email the hotel (ask for the manager or conceirge) and word it something like this:

"I will be a guest at your property on 3/31 and am a little concerned about some of the reviews that i have read. Regardless, we are looking forward to our stay as this is a special anniversary trip for us and would appreciate anything that you can do with our room assignment to ensure that this is an enjoyable stay for us. Thank you."

Let us know if you do the above and how it ultimately goes.

Happy Anniversary. :)

I would call the front desk mid morning (after the check out rush is over) on the day of your reservation to confirm, mention that you are a member of Wyndham by Request program (sign up online) and explain that its your first anniversary, that you would like the room to be perfect. I would avoid directly saying "don't put me in a room with mold" just stay on the positive :) So will you be heading into Philly or is it room service :)

Happy Anniversary!

I think because there are some great deals at the 2.5* level reported: Holiday Inn, Amerisuites and to a lesser extent, Clarion and Ramada. Many reported wins at the Holiday Inn at $35-$40.

Thank you both for the advice and well wishes. If it fits into the conversation I may also mention that our most recent trip to the Cherry Hill area was at the Hilton & we're looking forward to trying another establishment (suggesting potential repeat business). Unless you think that's a bad idea. It's not a very nice Hilton, so it's not name dropping in a snooty sense.

It might not go over as well if I share that the focus of our anniversary trip is opening weekend at Six Flags - I'll probably leave that out! :) A little extra rush of adrenalin is a good thing!

I guess you can hang out anytime, but there is only one opening day, right! :) Hope you get to G.A. early and get to ride all of the roller coasters. The hotel should be fairly empty, its a weekend and this hotel typically caters to the business trade, so any desk clerk with a heart should have no trouble accomodating your first anniversary request :)

Bidding for hotels near Six Flags Great Adventure is really difficult as this area is devoid of any hotels within a short drive! There is really nothing decent unless you stay in Mount Laurel to the south or Cranbury to the North.

Just an update on the Wyndham, I'll add it to my review after the stay. I'd joined Wyndham ByRequest, and emailed to request a room with 2 beds. Response:

We have received your request to change the room type on your reservation to arrive today 3/31/06. We have rooms available with two queen beds so that is not a problem to change your room type. One more thing I would like to mention if you have not been informed already, when you make your reservations through a third party web site like Priceline.com, you are not entitled to receive the amenities of the Wyndham ByRequest program. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

I have already changed your room type for you from one king bed to two queen beds. Please feel free to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Wyndham Mt. Laurel!

Sincerely,

Kxxxxx Axxxxx

use priceline and save $60 or more....so I'll skip the By Request benefits, pay $10 for high speed internet and forgo the bottled water in my room any day of the week! :)
