gingerc Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 I would like to get two rooms at the Venetian for Sunday June 18 and Monday June 19. On the Venetian's website, the rate for Sunday by itself is $169; the rate for Monday by itself is $239; and the rate when I ask for both nights is $199. I've been trying over the past couple months using free rebids up to $145 with no luck. Can you estimate how high I'll need to bid, given the prices available directly from the Venetian? Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 Welcome to BetterBidding! What is your maximum bid?Are you willing to SPLIT YOUR PRICELINE BID?Let us know and we'll advise accordingly. gingerc Posted March 16, 2006 Author Report Posted March 16, 2006 Traveling with another family and our maximum is $150. I'm not sure whether we're willing to split our bid. We definitely don't want to have to move after the first night because we're getting in late that night, are traveling with kids, and are beginning a Southwest National Parks driving vacation where we'll be moving a lot. Want these first two nights to be in one place. But, I know the Venetian's the only 5* Priceline has, so assuming Priceline has inventory, I guess we'd get the same hotel for the second night if we split our bid, albeit at a higher price -- is that right? Bottom line -- we'd be willing to split the bid if you think chances are good that Priceline has inventory for that second night.
thereuare Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 Here's the "problem"...Let's say you get accepted for the first nite at $120 (just to pick a number)... that leaves a maximum bid of $180 for the second nite (bringing you to your maximum of $150 per nite average). What if you're not accepted for the second nite at $180? You already 'own' the first nite.As well, Priceline only guarantees double occupancy... not sure if you're looking for more, but is getting a room with only one bed a risk a willing to take? gingerc Posted March 16, 2006 Author Report Posted March 16, 2006 Right -- I appreciate the problem. So, under the circumstances, we'd probably better not split the bid. I understand Priceline only guarantees double occupancy. We've gotten the Venetian using Priceline before and given the size of the rooms and the separate sitting area and couch, we're ok with that risk.
Blueskies Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 You could always try to get the second and most expensive night first and if successful at say $150 you could then go on to bid for the first one and if not successful book conventionally, which would equate to near a PL bid of $150 with taxes and charges. At least bidding for the higher one first would show you how high you need to go without wasting the extra on the cheaper night.
dahammer Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 using EasyClickTravel Travel, Bally's is available for $111 and Paris is $142 both good deals. Also the Rio is $140, its not on the strip, but it is a Suite hotel.
gingerc Posted March 17, 2006 Author Report Posted March 17, 2006 Thanks for that info Dahammer! If we aren't successful with the Venetian, I'll check out Paris. Good to know.
