Hi, I'm trying to find 4* Monterey, Ca. 9/26-9/28 in zone 5 for approximately $120 and 4* San Francisco 9/28-9/30 (no preference for zone but would like to be in an area for tourism since i'm going with elders as well) about $160 if possible. Any help would be great. No preference on amenities. Thanks

Please start by following-up your previous Priceline NYC hotel thread with whatever you ended up doing for that trip, then reply here and we will have a look at your post above.

It would be appreciated if you started to follow-up your threads with your wins/decisions as you make them (even if you don't ultimately use PRICELINE / HOTWIRE, cancel the trip, book direct, etc) as this help keep the board better organized and more useful for everyone... as well as being a courtesy to anyone who took the time to help with your travel plans. (as well as avoid any delay in having your future requests researched and responded to)

Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.

Please post a separate thread for your stay in Monterey. We'll use this one for the San Francisco stay.  How many people are in the party/is more than one bed needed? Unfortunately, I don't think $160 is going to be quite enough for this stay, but how much more is going to depend on whether you want to bid and risk one bed or look into PRICELINE EXPRESS/HOTWIRE options.

the monterey one is more important. It will be 3 adults so 2 beds is needed.

There's no way to guarantee more than 1 bed via bidding. PRICELINE EXPRESS (looking for a listing with bed choice where two beds are one of the options) or HOTWIRE (searching for 3 adults or searching for a listing that offers bed choice. If you indicate more than 2 people, you should get some form of bedding - 2 beds, 1 + sofa or 1 + rollaway) for the entire party.

When searching for 3 adults on HOTWIRE, I'm seeing a 4* in the Monterey-Del Monte Shopping area w/Resort, Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa, Pet Friendly for $150.

>> This listing has not yet been ID'd/reported, but my guess would be the Hyatt Monterey Hotel and Spa on Del Monte Golf Course. Would this potential property be acceptable?

Or is risk of 1 bed via bidding acceptable?

I'm definitely going to book for a hotel in monterey for the dates above. I'm a little confused upon how hotwire works. How do I narrow down the exact hotel they are offering. Please help. I will be booking soon so any help upon the best rate and hotel detail would be appreciated. Thank you!

Have you booked anything (PRICELINE, HOTWIRE, or otherwise) for the San Francisco leg of your trip yet?  What have you decided to do?

As noted above, please start a NEW TOPIC for your Monterey and follow-up your threads with your wins/decisions.

With your stay just a week away are you ready to book at this point in time?  If not, what is it that you are waiting on?

We have merged your thread(s) since you have canceled the San Francisco leg of the trip.

Are you know going to Monterey for the full 4 nites or still just 2 nites 9/26-9/28.

As noted earlier, there's no way to guarantee more than 1 bed via bidding.

Are you seeing any listings of interest on HOTWIRE (ones that fit within your desired budget, desired zone and any other factors) or PRICELINE EXPRESS? If so, please confirm the zone, star rating, full list of amenities and price per night before taxes/fees and we would be happy to take a look and try to ID the above listing.

i'll be traveling for 2 nites 9/26-9/28. Can help on the best rate for a 4 star hotel in monterey would be appreciated. I did see the Hyatt for 155. Is there anything better. On HOTWIRE, they list rates at 131 but there is no idea of what hotel it would be. Thank you for the quick responses back.

PRICELINE EXPRESS has this 4* Monterey Hotel (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $96/nite with:

Pets Allowed
Free Internet
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> best guess for this one would be the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa

Does this one work for your needs?

Does the express deal limit to one bed? Also, If I "name my own price" do you think that I would be able to select bedding by calling hotel?

If a bed type option is not showing with a PRICELINE EXPRESS listing, then bed type is not guaranteed. Bed type is not guaranteed in general via bidding. In both cases, you can contact the hotel, but the hotel can say no or charge more.

There is a 3.5* in the Monterey zone on Priceline Express for $155 (confirm that your dates are correct on the landing page after clicking the link). That listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board, but my guess would be the Hotel Pacific. There are two different 2 bed options on that listing. Would that be of interest?

All PRICELINE rooms are booked for double occupancy, and unless a 'Bed Choice' option is shown by PRICELINE EXPRESS, the room is 'booked run of house' and assigned by the hotel based upon their availability/inventory.

Whether the hotel is willing/able to assign you a room with 2 beds (assuming that is what you're looking for) will depend upon many factors, mostly related to hotel occupancy, what is available at the time you check-in, if the hotel charges more for rooms with 2 beds vs. 1 bed, mood of the front desk clerk, etc... but i don't think that a winning bid vs. a PRICELINE EXPRESS purchase would be a factor at all.

Alternatively some HOTWIRE hotels will show a bed choice, or if you need two beds (is this what you're hoping for??) HOTWIRE will also allow you to search for up to quad occupancy, which often results in 2 beds in the room although the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc.

What are your bed requirements for this stay and how many adults/children will there be?

just booked for monterey through express deal for $96 4* with Hyatt. Was able to call and get double beds without additional charge because they still have rooms available. Thanks for all the help.

Congrats on your success.

Really nice win for this property and so glad that the hotel was able to give you two beds.

Thank you for sharing your win and letting us know about the change in amenity set for this PRICELINE EXPRESS property so that we can update the site's Priceline Hotel List.
