whalaw Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 Topic started for the above criteria as a continuation of my split San Francisco hotel thread. I'm willing to spend up to $250 or more, if necessary. However, I'm also fine with a 3* for appreciably less. Thank you for your help.
thereuare Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 What are your thoughts about the believed to be Mystic Hotel by Charles Palmer for $178/nite?Most sites i visited rate this property 3*... although PRICELINE has it listed at 1* (not sure if it's lacking amenities to qualify for more than this on the 'opaque' side and that's why it's so low or if for some other reason... but their sister site Booking.com puts it at 3*, as does Hotels.com and Tripadvisor (who rates the hotel 3* and user reviews give it 3.5/5.0)Does this work for your plans... or what star rating and maximum bid do you want to try first? I'm thinking that the Fisherman Wharf hotel referenced above (likely 3.5* on PRICELINE / 4* rated on HOTWIRE) for ~$275/nite may be your next best option). Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. whalaw Posted October 14, 2013 Author Report Posted October 14, 2013 I'm OK with the Mystic Hotel. However, I'm not sure what site you are referring to offering it at that price. Can you please provide a link? Thanks.
thereuare Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 It was a 3* offered on HOTWIRE, but it is gone at the moment... do you want to move forward with bidding (if so what star rating and maximum bid do you want to try first) or do you want to wait until tomorrow to see if the 3* USW property re-appears on HOTWIRE?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. whalaw Posted October 14, 2013 Author Report Posted October 14, 2013 I think I'll try bidding today/tonight. I'd like to keep the price at $200.00 per night for this portion of the trip, if possible. However, I am willing to go up to $250.00 per night or more, if necessary.Do you think a 3* is feasible at $180.00 or less?If not, what do you think the price-range will be for a 3.5*? How about a 4*?Thank you for your guidance.
thereuare Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 Some ballpark price points:3* - $220-$2403.5* - $250-$2704* - $265-$285 (i think PRICELINE will be more but HOTWIRE currently has what i believe to be the Hotel Nikko for $285/nite)If you let us know what star rating you'd like to try for first we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow (also, is $200/nite your maximum bid at all star ratings?)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. whalaw Posted October 15, 2013 Author Report Posted October 15, 2013 Hey. To let you know, I just bid 4* for the four referenced areas up to $235.00, with no accepted bids. With only a little difference between the 3* price and 4* price, I think I would like to bid 4*. Any suggestions?Edited to add:Currently, I see a 4* on Hotwire that is 80% recommended, and contains the following amenities: Internet, Pool(s), Pet Friendly, Fitness Center, Business Center and more . . . . It is listed at $265.00. Do you think that is Hotel Nikko? If so, I don't think I'll do much better, considering my recent bidding and your projected price levels.Further edited to add: I took the HOTWIRE offer referenced above. As you suggested, it was Hotel Nikko. Thank you for your help.
thereuare Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 Sorry to see that these dates were so expensive, but glad to see you're happy with the final outcome relative to what was otherwise available for these remaining nites of your trip. Can you please add a reply to this thread confirming the full list of amenities associated with this property... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page. Thanks for sharing your win with the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Thanks! whalaw Posted October 15, 2013 Author Report Posted October 15, 2013 Yes, the prices were more expensive than I was hoping; however, I'm happy with both hotels. In addition, they are within a block or so of each other, so it should make "moving" day fairly simple. Here is the list you asked for:AmenitiesPet friendlyIndoor pool(s)Fitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Business CenterInternet accessAccessible for the blindAccessible path of travelIn-room accessibilityAccessible bathroomHandicapped parkingAs always, thank you for your help.
