extended stay - for days prior to winning bid

Curious if the extended stay option applies to days after the reservation as well as days prior to your winning bid? For instance if my bid is accepted for a Friday and I am offered an extended stay can I chose Thursday or does it have to be Saturday, the day after?

Yes, you can extend either before or after for the same number of days that your original reservation was for (e.g. if you booked 2 days, then you can "extend," if offered, for 2 days before or after your accepted stay. PL does add a separate fee for the new reservation, just as if you were starting from scratch in terms of fees and taxes.

In this prior Hotwire NYC thread did you decide upon the Doubletree, or were you able to get a HOTWIRE/PRICELINE win?

You can add up to the amount of days of the original win for either before or after the stay.

just went back and closed out that prior topic. ended up at the Doubletree Times Square. Did not use Hotwire or Priceline.

This can used as a tip which i followed in recent days

- Bid on priceline for 1 night, and once you get there and like the hotel extend it for the days/nights you need it

- If you book for one night, and you don't get the hotel you want then you have a choice to move to another one instead of being stuck for all the days you bought it for

-Plus, if for some reason if you can't make the trip, you are stuck with 1 night charge only..

This doesn't necessarily work and if you do attempt it you need to be willing to change hotels mid-stay. Note the following:

1) you can only extend your stay for up to the number of nites as your original purchase. So if you book one nite and like the hotel, you're only able to extend for one additional nite, not as many nite(s) as you'd like

2) the extend your stay option is not always offered, and even when it is, it does not ensure that you'll be able to extend additional nites. PRICELINE can come back and state:

• you've successfully added an additional nite(s)
• rooms are available but only at $xx more (and you're given the option to accept or reject the higher price
• no rooms are available for the additional nites
