krlbrgmnn Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 They shifted the average price values up from $110 to $115 within the hour this morning, while I was cross-checking 4* prices on HW. I bid $55 anyway on my first try (50% off the first figure they gave; 52.2% off the second one). I probably should have tested their warning limit ("Your bid has only a small chance of being accepted...") before bidding but didn't; this win looks like it is the new low on the list though.Note: Add $15.24 in taxes & service (PL) fees for $70.24 total. [PL's service fee must be ~$7.54, after calc'ing the 7% occupancy + 7% city taxes ($7.70 together).]
Aprilmay Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 I've actually stayed at this Omni twice. Paid $40 last October and $45 in December. LOVED it! Be sure to register for the free Select Guest program on the Omni's website before you go. You can choose your bed type, etc, as well as complimentary morning beverages. Select Guests also get super-late checkout, 5 pm, if I'm not mistaken. Have fun!
thereuare Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 Thank you for posting your win to the board. Most of us have concluded that Priceline's suggested median price is meaningless and should always be ignored.I second signing up for the Omni's program... one of the few programs that still gives perks to guests who book by a means other than the hotel's website.Have a great stay! krlbrgmnn Posted May 31, 2005 Author Report Posted May 31, 2005 Post-stay comments: Very nice hotel: upscale bed/linens, nice marble bath, robes. However, they screwed me on a confirmed King reservation and gave me two Fulls. Maybe the Select Guest program that Aprilmay mentions could have prevented this switcheroo. I did arrive late though, about 9:30p.Parking alert: Garage next door costs $8 flat/day; hotel garage is even more. You are across from Centennial/Olympic Park and the Phillips Arena, so there is no on-street or other free parking to be had. Factor this into your cost basis if you are driving yourself.
krlbrgmnn Posted May 31, 2005 Author Report Posted May 31, 2005 Two other comments:1) One surprisingly small pool and it was outdoors, along with one small jacuzzi.2) Best surprise was this hotel's incredible fitness center: it's a mini-Gold's gym! Tons of top-notch, brand new Cybex equipment!! Also, many treadmills & ellipticals, many with personal flat-screen TVs. Several large plasma TVs on the walls as well. Classy-looking spa adjacent too.
