drphil Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 I'm looking at Hotwire for San Diego week of June 6 to 10. I have not decided which night but I'll only need one night.I see there is a 2.5 star La Mesa hotel for $41 on the night of June 8. The amenities are breakfast, pool, internet and it is approved in 85% of the reviews. I see on Trip Advisor that the only 2.5 star in La Mesa is Holiday Inn Express SDSU Area with a 61% recommend rating. There is also the TravelLodge La Mesa in Trip Advisor which I'm inclined to stay away from based on the horror reviews on the front desk service and deposit problems.La Mesa is not an area listed in the Hotwire hotel list. Was this previously part of a different area? Or has no one reported on a La Mesa hotel?
Colfax Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 As far as I know La Mesa wasn't split off from another existing zone. The board just hasn't had any win reports from La Mesa yet.Hotwire and TripAdvisor quality ratings (2*, 3*, etc) don't always match so we don't use those for doing ID's.The 2.5* for $41 has a 3.5/5 TripAdvisor rating, which makes it a likely match for the Travelodge, Days Inn, OR Holiday Inn Express. All are 3.5 on TA. Because of the low price I lean towards Travelodge or Days Inn, although HIE is a possibility.Hotwire also has a 3* in La Mesa for $60 and that could be Holiday Inn Express too, or the reguular Holiday Inn.If you purchase one of those please use this HOTWIRE link and let us know what you get.
