paulieuk Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 Yikes!Priceline UK have changed their whole emphasis. The 'name your own price' proposition is a secondary option on the left of the screen or at the foot of the main box. That main yellow box section of the website leads you through to Active Hotels content and their sale of listed and priced hotels. At the same time, the Priceline UK affiliate program seems to have been ended or suspended.Does this spell the end of Priceline in the UK? Are they giving up on the market? Are Brits too hard to convert to opaque bidding?I do hope not!
Blueskies Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 Please no. I have only just found it. Had a look at it and the name your own price is still the most prominent. perhaps the website has changed back again. Who knows?
paulieuk Posted April 21, 2005 Author Report Posted April 21, 2005 It's definitely changed... the big yellow box that dominates the centre of screen with the horizontal lists of countries and cities is a new feature and presents you with named hotels with published prices from Active Hotels. The original 'name your own price' city picklist and date entry boxes which were visible on the home page have now been removed. There are references to 'name your own price' on the left side and the bottom - you have to click through to another screen to begin the bidding process.
dahammer Posted April 22, 2005 Report Posted April 22, 2005 priceline is promoting "Shop and Compare" in the US with the help of William Shatner, aka Captain Kirk......I think they are trying to get folks to try the website who might otherwise not consider bidding for an "opaque" hotel room. They do the same thing with airfares as well.
Blueskies Posted April 22, 2005 Report Posted April 22, 2005 Sorry. I was looking at it from an old link and it had not changed but since then have visited the site by normal means and see what you mean. Does seem a bit of a change of emphasis. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens next.
