senor Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 I'm new to priceline and hotwire and I am wondering what price I should expect to bid and what hotels I should expect to get for a 4 star near Sea World San Diego for one night 8/2 -8/3. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Colfax Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 HOTWIRE has a 4* in their SeaWorld-Mission Bay-Shelter Island zone for $126 that looks like the Hilton Mission Bay. Priceline usually beats Hotwire on rate so you ought to be able to get a 4* in Priceline's Coastal zone for less than $126. I think $80 may be too low though. When bidding for a 4* in San Diego you have THIRTEEN rebid zones. If you need help determining your rebid zones please ask.I suggest $70 for a 4* in Coastal, then add rebid zones one a time, raising your bid $2 with each. When you hit $80 you'll still have eight rebid zones left if you want to bid higher. Please start your bidding with this PRICELINE link. Good luck!
senor Posted July 24, 2010 Author Report Posted July 24, 2010 I found a 4* on hotwire in the Gaslamp Quarter - Convention Center Area for $79, any ideas what hotel that might be?The amenities listed on Hotwire are:Smoke Free RoomsFitness CenterRestaurantsBusiness CenterHigh Speed Internet AccessSpa Services
senor Posted July 24, 2010 Author Report Posted July 24, 2010 I wanted to secure my plans so I booked the above mentioned hotel. It was The Westgate Hotel, listed everywhere else online for $179, so I am very happy with the $79 price from hotwire. Thanks to those who responded and to others on this board, it really helped me figure out how to best use hotwire and priceline and how to at least narrow down what hotels I am likely to get from those sites.
