tsecondo Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 Looking at April 9th, cheapest room I can find in NYC.This is what I got3*, Downtown (SoHo), Fitness Center, Laundry Service.I think it might be Club Quarters, I vaguely remember getting this same place like three years ago.Any other ideas? Thanks!
thereuare Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 Club Quarters sounds right. If you're considering this, i would sooner try for the Jersey City Hyatt which will likely cost you less, be nicer, and only put you about 10 minutes away from Downtown Manhattan. tsecondo Posted February 28, 2005 Author Report Posted February 28, 2005 Cheaper than $120 on a Saturday night?Should I try using Priceline instead?
tsecondo Posted February 28, 2005 Author Report Posted February 28, 2005 I see what you mean about the Hyatt Regency in Hoboken... the 3-1/2 star comes up as $78 on hotwire. Is this near a subway line? how convenient is it to the city? I assume they have parking onsite, so that's a plus. Anymore info anyone has would be great as I've never stayed in Hoboken,Thanks!
Aprilmay Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 I'm positive that you would have no complaints about the Jersey City Hyatt. Read the reviews on this site as well as Tripadvisor.com. My husband and I stayed here over just before Christmas, and were incredibly pleased. A five minute subway ride to WTC, then maybe six or seven more to Midtown. The PATH station is literally across the driveway from the hotel's front door, about a thirty second walk.I actually paid $37 on Priceline, and this place is worth five times that. I understand, though, that the lowest price seen on Priceline recently is in the high $40's, a steal! I'm sure Thereuare can help you more with that. And yes, there is onsite parking, but I'm not sure about the price. Maybe someone else chould chime in with that info? Go for it! You'll love it, and best of all, it's inexpensive! Hope this helps!April
thereuare Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 From the Hyatt, PATH trains are 8 minutes to downtown, 17 minutes to midtown. Trains runs 24/7... during the day every 3-15 minutes depending upon time of day, late nite schedule varies according to midweek/weekend. On Saturdays (the nite of your stay) train runs approximately every 10 minutes during the day, 15 minutes in the evening until 2am, 30 minutes after 2am.Self-park at the hotel's lot is $15/day, but there should be somewhat easy (relative in this area) street parking on the weekends.Plenty of photos of the property too at our sister site: RealHotelPhotos.com.Every room has a view Manhattan.Let us know and we'll advise on how to best proceed. tsecondo Posted February 28, 2005 Author Report Posted February 28, 2005 ya, maybe i will move this over to Priceline, $37 is ridiculous.
thereuare Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 I don't think you'll have success at $37. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
tsecondo Posted February 28, 2005 Author Report Posted February 28, 2005 i didn't think so. do you think $60 is attainable on priceline? if so, how do you go about weeding out the doubletree (seemed to get some bad reviews on Tripadvisor)?
thereuare Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 Bid $48.If that is rejected wait 72 hours and bid $55. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
tsecondo Posted March 4, 2005 Author Report Posted March 4, 2005 Bid $45.... and got this msg:"We searched hundreds of options to find your hotel room, however we were not able to find a hotel that would accept your price for $45 per room, per night. Your credit card has not been charged for Request Number 206-654-021-68. If you are willing to raise your price by $13, you can try the same request again right now.Normally you are required to change additional items (add zones, star level, or dates) in order to try your request again. However we are able to extend this one-time opportunity to you because of the zone, quality level and dates you requested."WTF????
thereuare Posted March 4, 2005 Report Posted March 4, 2005 This is known as a counter-offer, and is discussed here: PRICELINE SUGGESTS PRICE TO PAY. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
tsecondo Posted March 5, 2005 Author Report Posted March 5, 2005 Thanks, I had no idea you could get counteroffers from priceline. I will wait it out the three days and bid $50. How often does priceline do this? is it only in certain cities?
thereuare Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 It's somewhat random and not city specific. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
