thereuare Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 Unfortunately the property above has not yet been reported to the board. If i were to take a guess i think the Hotel Zoso would be a possibility, but i'm not really basing that on too much information so really just a 'shot in the dark'.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please follow-up this thread with whatever you end up doing for this stay, even if you choose to book direct, cancel your trip, etc. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Shuksan Posted May 12, 2010 Author Report Posted May 12, 2010 Thanks again. We haven't made a decision yet, but I would have to agree that Hotel Zoso is a pretty intelligent guess here based on all the info. As an in-town boutique 4* hotel in Palm Springs without a golf course that shows up on the major commercial booking sites but hasn't been triggered on your pages, I'd say there are a small number of options, and Zoso sounds like a pretty strong candidate for being it.Hopefully somebody - myself or other - will come through with a confirmation soon.-s
Colfax Posted May 13, 2010 Report Posted May 13, 2010 Hotwire says this hotel has a resort fee of "about $25/night". Per Zoso's website their resort fee is $15/night.Hotwire's disclosure of resort fee prior to purchase, with approximate amount, is a fairly recent development. But the other times I've seen it Hotwire's "about $xx" figure matched the hotel's actual resort fee. I agree Zoso sounds like a good fit, but the $25 vs $15 discrepancy makes me wonder if this is something else.I also though this might be Le Parker Meridien, downgraded from 4.5* to 4*, since Hotwire isn't showing any 4.5* option for your dates. But Parker's resort fee is $30/night, so that's not a match for $25 either. The $59 price for a 4* is excellent, so I expect someone will purchase before long and we'll all know what this is.
Shuksan Posted May 14, 2010 Author Report Posted May 14, 2010 Thanks for the follow-up. Good point about the resort fee.I actually found a reference to the Zoso back on your hotel lists here: http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?showtopic=971&4* Hotel ZosoAmenities: Resort, Boutique, Shuttle, Pool, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, SpaORAmenities: Boutique, Pool, Hi-Speed Internet, SpaNeither of those however seem to make sense, ie there IS a restaurant on-site, but there IS NOT a golf course.I have seen elsewhere on the www confirmation that this hotel has been booked on hotwire. .... meanwhile, friend is pushing to choose a hotel by name rather than hotwire....-s
Shuksan Posted May 14, 2010 Author Report Posted May 14, 2010 We're looking at some different options, namely, heading out there earlier:5/19-5/20 (one night).**** Palm Springs/Cathedral City$66 before resort fee of 'about $25/night'Amenities = BoutiquePoolInternetSpaThose are all that are listed, though it seems hard to imagine a 4* without a restaurant and bar.-s
Shuksan Posted May 14, 2010 Author Report Posted May 14, 2010 Well, I booked this one and it did indeed turn out to be the Zoso..... booked here to send a couple coins your way as well.My hunch is that this is the same hotel, even if the amenities differ, since I never saw the two of them together.-s
yellowdog Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 ShuksanCongratulations on your success!Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using the HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase :) We hope you'll like the Zoso.Enjoy your stay.Yellowdog.
Colfax Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Those are all that are listed, though it seems hard to imagine a 4* without a restaurant and bar.The hotels choose which icons they want to display, and HOTWIRE icon sets aren't necessarily a complete list of every amenity a hotel offers. Neither of those however seem to make sense, ie there IS a restaurant on-site, but there IS NOT a golf course. The Golf icon doesn't mean the hotel has a golf course. It means there's a golf course "in the vicinity", iirc, and vicinity isn't defined. It's a meaningless icon because every hotel in Palm Springs is in the vicinity of a golf course.I suspect the first icon set you posted is Zoso too. It's common now for one hotel to show multiple icon sets. What's news to me in this thread is that HOTWIRE quotes a Resort Fee of "about $25" and Zoso's resort fee is only $15 on their website. Other times I've checked, for other hotels, the HOTWIRE estimate and the hotel's actual resort fee were the same, to the dollar.I'd been thinking of starting to use HOTWIRE's estimated resort fee as an aid in doing hotel ID's. Now I won't, since I see the two numbers don't always match. So thanks for the lesson!Enjoy your stay.
