jamespr
HiIam coming to New York on 26th October 2006 for 4 nights and I am trying to find a hotel via priceline for a good 3 or 4 * star that is reasonably central.I would be grateful for some assistance or advice as everytime I put in a bid it always gets rejected. The last bid for a four star hotel was $170 and rejected. Many thanksJames Link to comment
GM Mike
Welcome -What zones are you bidding in? What * ratings in each of those zones? What is your actual maximum bid you're willing to make? Do you have a backup reservation somewhere? Have you considered STAYING IN NEW JERSEY? Link to comment
jamespr
HiI have Midtown East, Midtown South, Midtown West ticked.I have just gone for 4 star deluxe, but have done it with 3 star upscale as well.I have not gone for any other areas except those, I like the Hyatt which is in New Jersey across from New York as long as it would only take a few mins by tube into New York.I have looked in general at New Jersey, but dont want an hours bus trip each day as I have limited time before I fly back home.I dont want to pay more than Link to comment
thereuare
You maximum bid is not likley enough for this time of year for a 4* property in NYC.Do you have any type of back-up plan or reservation within that budget? jamespr
HiI have just got the Sheraton Meadowlands Hotel in New Jersey through priceline for $97 a night. Many thanks for your help and assistance in this matter it was much appreciated. Many thanksJames Link to comment
dahammer
James, here is my post from a recent stay at the Sheraton Meadowlands Hotel. The Sheraton operates a free shuttle on a fixed schedule so that guests may access public transportation to NYC. The Sheraton is not the best location for access to NYC, but this is a great hotel and you got a good rate, so enjoy! Link to comment
jamespr
HiThanks for the information. As far as I can see I need to get a bus if there is one and then get a train from Seacaucus Junction straight into New york from there. I reckon this will take 90 mins each way probably.Kind regardsJames Link to comment
dahammer
the hotel shuttle bus makes a stop at Secaucus Plaza where you can pick up the NJ Transit Route 190 bus directly into New York's Port Authority Bus terminal. The trip is 20 minutes. I suppose you could get a NJ Transit bus to Secaucus Junction, but this would cost more and take more time. Link to comment
jamespr
HiI understand there is a Rutherford station that would take me to new york penn station via secaucaus junction, would this station be miles from the hotel, as cant seem to locate any information as where the station is.Any help would be appreciated. Many thanksJames Link to comment
dahammer
here is a copy of the Train Schedule it looks like the Rutherford Station is the next to last stop before Secaucus Junction. Here is a map from the Sheraton Meadowlands to the Rutherford station. You might be able to get the shuttle driver to take you to the station, or you can get a taxi. Good Luck! Link to comment
jamespr
HiMany thanks for your help, hopefully I can get a bus to the station as its only 4 miles, and then the train should take me straight into New York.Kind regardsJames Link to comment
