  1. sounds like a good plan, whether it's a worse savings than even hotwire isn't so much important as much as the fact that it's opaque however some will argue that the descriptions are oblivious
  2. I'm wondering about upgrades when you have a priceline stay...... for example, one person on here who gets the Peabody Orlando a lot says he just says "I'd like a complimentary upgrade please" and they've upgraded his room every time this is a mystery to me, HALF the time the hotel people gruff about how little you're paying for your room and the other HALF the time they don't say anything but they certainly aren't going to give you an upgrade for NOTHING sure you can PAY for an upgrade but I've seen a couple people on here say they get an upgrade for nothing I just don't see it happening, now hotels are pretty good and don't give you substandard rooms anymore, the worst they'll do is put you at the very end of the hallway near the fire door or right in front of the elevator where all the traffic is or a room facing the highway, all perfectly reasonable rooms just not the most convenient so it's not like they'll give you a substandard room anymore, but it's not like they're going to bend over backwards to give you an UPGRADE for NOTHING after you're sometimes paying less than 50% of the price of a REGULAR room so someone give some advice here PLEASE DON'T SAY "I'd like an upgrade please!" that's completely obvious I see it as you have to slip the person a 20,50 or some other high amount to get the upgrade, unless there's some trick for getting a free upgrade I'm missing here? :)
  3. You NAME YOUR OWN PRICE PER NIGHT before you click the button BUY MY HOTEL ROOM it will list your TOTAL CHARGES TO YOUR CREDIT CARD which includes each night's stay and taxes and fees, etc.
  4. I'm wondering when the Renaissance will come up again....from what I understand the Hyatt is on the upper end of the 4* rating and I think the Hyatt is the nicest hotel in Tampa personally, but I'm curious if I'll ever get the Renaissance in the future...... Stay tuned to BB and watch for my future bids in this area and find out! Same BB time! Same BB channel! :)
  5. Yes, most definitely. sorry I forgot to say the zone Started at 42, added a free rebid zone and raised to 49, added a free rebid zone and raised to 56, added a free rebid zone and raised to 63, added a free rebid zone and raised to 70 and was accepted! Like I said I've stayed there a few times and it's absolutely fabulous!
  6. 4* Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay, Tampa, FL $70 a night, 5/28--5/30 (Saturday---Monday) about $166 total after tax I've stayed here a couple times before, and it's absolutely fabulous!!! lowest availble price on hyatt.com was $135 (which is cheap!), after tax would be $300 GREAT DEAL!!! Actually I need to be in Downtown Orlando on Saturday, but Orlando is going to be a madhouse for Memorial Weekend, and I didn't want to stay in the Downtown Orlando zone and all the other areas of Orlando I tried and tried to get on priceline and couldn't get anything, so I'll just head straight for Orlando on Saturday and drive back to Tampa sometime in the afternoon for check-in it's so luxurious at the hyatt, I love it!
  7. King bed, 25" tv I think, pool, clean, no thrills hotel. Complimentary breakfast was a joke. But it served its purpose. Got it on hotwire for 2 nights at $54 a night.
  8. looks like this summer we'll be cleaning up in the Orlando area baby! :)
  9. It COULD be just a mistake in choice of font color, or it could be done purposely to make it look more aesthetically pleasing............point is there's no secret number which will tell us the identity of the hotel.
  10. unfortunately this won't work just test it.........pick a city find your hotel then just change the date.......and you'll see it's the same hotwire hotel (matching amenities), similar price for a similar date, but the reference number changes most likely the reference number is unique for each time a room is actually purchased I thought of it too when I first saw it though :)
  11. 2.5* Baymont Inn & Suites Lakeland, FL Selected amenities include: Complimentary Breakfast, Pool(s), Laundry Facilities (self-service). $54 per night for 2 nights, Friday----Sunday (5/13----5/15) after tax ~ $127 lowest available on the web is ~ $75 per night
  12. Lately, when I've been bidding it'll sometimes come up with this screen that says it can take up to 15 minutes or longer to get the results of the bid............it seems to be happening a lot more lately....what's up with this? :)
  13. not sure if this has been posted before.... An In-Depth Examination of Opaque Travel Web Sites (Full Report) http://www.consumerwebwatch.org/pdfs/booki...ight-unseen.pdf :)
  14. I think you might be mixing up 2 different hotels............. normally we don't see CONDOs come up as 4*...............take a look one more time at hotwire and make sure please
  15. Glad to see they're rating it 1* .....several travel websites rate the Days Inns in Orlando as 2* and up Days Inn has valid 2* hotels, but pretty much in O-town they're really only 1* so it's good to see priceline give a TRUE star rating, unlike hotwire
  16. What I do is simply review my bid before I'm finally ready to 'buy my hotel' because people don't realize their CC will be charged instantly, so even though I can lay out my bid in 2 secs, I wait an extra 15 seconds to review my details and re-check zones even if I know the zones haven't changed for months... you're still getting a better deal than anything else out of there even if you end up somewhere you didn't want to be, so it's not that bad I have a priceline reservation for saturday night in Tampa, and I was looking to maybe travel early Friday night so I was trying for a 1* and had my bid laid out in seconds...but I forced myself to review the details before I actually put it through :)
  17. I'm not too knowledgeable about the rental car issue, but I do know that priceline offers car rentals just like they offer hotels... there's NO guarantee about 24hr complimentary shuttle service..........(I'm almost sure) so if you DEFINITELY need that, maybe priceline isn't the right choice for you look at the hotels list for MCO zone and find the lowest available rates at those hotels for the dates you want and we can more accurately give you an amount to bid... if you want just a lucky guess....try bidding up to $50 or $60 for a 3* be a little more clear and specific about your travel plans please
  18. WOW!!! Congratulations are in order!!! We've all been curious as to what the 4* in the universal zone is i suspected the peabody in one of my earlier posts this month i think also, that's an ancredible price for 4* note: many rate the peabody from 4* to 4.5* to 5* so it's in the upper crust of the official 4* priceline rating, so this is definitely a great deal the peabody sometimes comes up on HOTWIRE between $90---$120, but i don't think the peabody has ever come up on priceline, however i could be wrong this is great because of the great debate over what the heck was going on in the universal zone for 4* and resort i've stayed at the peabody and it's all it's cracked up to be, the hotel, the ducks i didn't get a chance to eat in the 2 fancy restaurants but i hear they're both supposed to be fabulous enjoy enjoy enjoy
  19. Somehow I don't think your deal compares either.
  20. yes....but let's call the "lowest" available rate the NEW rack rate because ANYBODY can pay it! ps answer?
  21. fine............ what kind of savings vs. rack rate? :)
  22. Cool it's nice to know 2* are dirt cheap in Orlando. :)
  23. just a tip..........I have a friend who got the Hilton in St. Petersburg Zone thru priceline for $50 a night for the end of May he needed to make the reservation for his grandparents............ anyways.... TRY $50!!!!!!!! NOTE: $50 is an INCREDIBLE DEAL for a 3* hotel anywhere in the US, if you can FIND a better deal I'd be SHOCKED, so do yourself a favor........stop getting bleary eyed and bid $50, if that doesn't work, bid up, set a max of say $70........you can't just give up because you can't get a 3* hotel for $40!!!
  24. mmmmmm you possibly could have the site blocked thru your security preferences in your web browser or it could be spyware redirecting you to a different webpage everytime you try to access hotwire one suggestion... www.firefox.com if you're having problems with IE it could be because it SUCKS, use firefox instead and you'll likely have no more problems accessing websites
