  1. that's great for Labor day weekend, it's such a nice place. i want to stay there Monday, will try to remember the link also...
  2. actually I think downtown is closer to the airport, but the grove and downtown are only 4 miles apart. The intercontinental at Bayside often has a good rate through EasyClickTravel
  3. There is train transportation from FLL to Mia (less than $5) and there is SuperShuttle which i think will come in to Miami, if budget is an issue. I would be surprised if the taxi is only $75, since i have paid $27 for a 6 mile ride.
  4. i don't feel confident in the info, so i am going to delay, i ave flexibiliity
  5. this feels too rushed , i am going to wait a week or so. will check back in when i have more advanced time
  6. just so you know, the hottest neigborhood, south beach, (the blocks 2nd through 13,) has NO hotels on the beach, they are all across the street. That means the beach is beautful and wider in the most southern part. As you go from blocks 14 - 22, you have the major and mostly very expensive hotels on the beach, but the majority of folks coming to SoBe aren't staying on the beach.
  7. full list of amenities: Beachfront Property is located on the beach. Restaurant(s) Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary. Pool(s) Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal. Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. High-speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply.. Business Center Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply. Laundry Facilities <amenity names only please... not descriptions>
  8. 3 hurricanes intervened. never went anywhere except the hardware store to buy supplies.
  9. I am trying to book a hotel for 1 night, apr 24 in Singer Island, Fl (also called N.Palm Beach or Palm Beach Shores. Hotwire has a 3 STAR room for $129, on the ocean, some rooms having 2 balconies, pool, restaurant, fitness center and business center. Any ideas? I would like it to be the Hilton, but an guessing the Radisson.
  10. Dates are 9/22 - 9/23, would like to keep to $65 a night assuming resort fee is tacked on. at least a 3 would be my preference. Am will to go up to 25 mi s. of Key Largo. used easy click by typing in the whole url.
  11. Wanted to try easy travel but the search button isn't giving me anything. Want to go to Pennekamp park for a couple of days. Any suggestions?
  12. I wouldn't recommend Coral Gables if Beach is what you want. It is very nice, lots of boutiques/shops and restaurants, but all concrete. What is your price range? Prices are lower now, and you can be on or near the beach and the fun of SoBe, and i think you can get a good place here also.
  13. Airport to beach is about 30 minutes, except during rush hour and rain storms (longer) . There is a supershuttle that is $16 that is pretty fast and would take you to hotel on the beach and would also pick you up. I think cab flat rate is $25 give or take a few. Blocks 1 - 20 are considered South Beach and lots to do, see, eat, etc. There is a huge range of $ costs on Miami Beach and generally after block 20 the prices go down. When you get up to the 90's that is considered Bal Harbor and they go back up again, but only a few hotels there. You can get great rates for moderate hotels on MIami Beach and have a lot of free entertainment just walking around.
  14. I partiipate in a lot of forums...the consensus is TripAdvisor.com is not a reliable screener or reporter of hotels, try fodors, consumer reports, and just plain googling the location and review for consumer attitude for more critical analysis. TripAdvisors job is to sell rooms, so buyer beware.
  15. You would be in the heart of downtown if you stayed there, not much walking around to do, but i would suggest looking at resorts in South beach which is also a short distance from the port. It has lots to see and do, Ocean Blvd, Lincoln road mall, ocean itself. Prices will go down somewhat for May, it is nothing but hotels something for every price range. I am sure you can find something you like (many hotels aren't on the beach, but across the street. You can also check out hotels on Washington Ave it is just 2 blocks from beach. Let me know if you have any more questions, i live in SoBe.
  16. I live in SoBe and would suggest you wait because you cannot predict what will be happening with Hurricanes. I think you will be able to find a good hotel for a very reasonable price. Season doesn't start until Dec. I like the Fontainbleu and it is a very short bus/cab ride down to South Beach, like 20 fast blocks. There are lots of amenities and it is on the ocean, which none of the hotels in SoBe are. Also check out the Supershuttle from Fll to Miami. It will save you lots of bucks.
