  1. Welcome! This amenity is Complimentary breakfast and is a match for Howard Johnson's, according to the Hotwire hotel list New York
  2. Welcome! Can you please post the details of your win in the PRICELINE New York forum? Please include the dates of travel, star rating, name of hotel, the zone, the amount of your winning bid? Please use the PRICELINE links on the board for your searches and bidding.
  3. Had made a previous bid of $44 at the 3* level, but was rejected. Dropped down to 2.5* and was accepted! Offer Price: $44.00 Taxes & Fees: $14.03 Total: $58.03 Looks like the HI was downgraded to a 2.5*, not a big deal. The current rack rates are $139, so i am pleased with the win. No complimentary breakfast, but I noticed that the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle within a 5 mile radius, and an indoor pool. I've stayed here several times and I can forgive the minor annoyances of an indifferent staff and rarely having enough free newspapers considering a low winning bid. One of the best values in the area. Made my bids through the PRICELINE links on the board.
  4. Here is a link to Liberty Landing Marina which mentions a $7 rate for parking. You might want to call and double check to confirm the rate and hours of operation for your dates as "special parking rates" may be in effect for your concert on Governor's Island. As for the Sheraton shuttle, I have heard that this can fill up and you may have to wait for the next one or take a cab. Since you have a car, I would be in favor of parking at the ferry. My other favorite way to get into the city is to use the North Bergen Park and Ride and take the NJ Transit 320 bus into the city. This will take you to the Port Authority Bus Terminal, but you will have to hop on a subway to get to Battery Park and then take the ferry to Gov Island. This seems a bit convoluted, but I just wanted to toss it out. You will need to check both the bus schedule and the operating hours for the parking lot.
  5. The Sheraton operates a shuttle to the Secaucus junction station, but I don't know how late this shuttle runs. You might want to find out the ferry schedule from Governors Island to Jersey City as well. Check out Edison Fastpark, they have a $7 rate after 4 PM and all day Saturday at their Secaucus Junction lot.
  6. Can you please reply with the name of the hotel and the amenities which are shown prior to purchase for this property? This information can be found in "my account" when you log into HOTWIRE. Thanks! Thank you for using the HOTWIRE links on the board.

  8. Is this for your your Sheraton Meadowlands stay? How late do you want to return from Manhattan?
  9. Friday nights are a bit easier to get in the summer compared to Saturday nights. Looks like you are considering "off shore" locations such as Tinton Falls, Eatontown, etc. You may also want to look at Absecon, Pleasantville and such, you can drive over to an Atlantic City beach, which are still free. The beaches closest to Ventnor are nice and you might even find some street parking.
  10. There is a parking deck located at 1540 Vine St. operated by the Philadelphia Parking Authority, the same clever and efficient folks featured in the cable TV show "Parking Wars". There is a weekend special rate of $5 per day from Friday at 5:00 PM until Monday at 9:00 AM. This is about a 12 minute walk to the hotel and you don't have in and out privileges. Here is a link to the Phila Parking Authority.
  11. You should pick up a copy of the Roomsaver coupon book at a truck stop or rest area, then call the hotel and make sure they will accept the coupon as you get closer to your destination. Generally speaking, if the hotel is less than 90% occupancy, they will accept the coupon.
  12. It has been reported that Harold's gets it's Pastrami from the same commissary that produces it for the Carnagie Deli. It's across the street from the Courtyard and worth a trip. Also, there is a NJ Transit bus stop on the corner where your hotel is located.
  13. I have used LMT twice with good results, I will often check LMT along with HOTWIRE before making a PRICELINE bid.
  14. There have been wins reported to the board where the hotel appeared sold out on some travel sites. Also, the "regular" PRICELINE site which William Shatner likes to call "Shop and Compare" does not always correlate with PRICELINE's bidding side. Finally, if you bid at the 2.5* level, you could always be upgraded to a 3*. If you are trying to avoid the Atherton, the best advice is to just skip this zone entirely and bid on the other State College Zone. My other advice is to make a trip to the Creamery and get a "death by chocolate" ice cream cone :) .
  15. This is the former Binghamton Regency, a Best Western property
  16. Greetings, Hopefully, this is the Crowne Plaza as you can walk a block to the NJ Tranist Bus stop. If you end up with the Sheraton, you can drive to the North Bergen Park and Ride and catch the Route 320 bus into the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The rate for one car and one round trip bus ticket is $9.50. A companion round trip ticket is $6.00 and there is a reduced fare program for 62+, disabled, and children. Or, you can drive to the Secaucus Junction train station, I am unsure of the current parking rates, and take the train into Penn Station. Good Luck.
  17. welcome! Can you please list your dates of travel and we can take a look at this?
  18. Greetings, please follow up and conclude your previous threads: Hotwire Austin Baltimore Inner Harbor Hotwire Hotwire Hilton Head (add the room rate paid) Its important to bring each topic to a conclusion as this helps others seeking similar accommodations.
  19. Do you have any hotel wins that you could post which could benefit others? :) Please post the details of this win in the Car Rental section as a new topic.
  20. Greetings! Toronto has many bidding zones, which zone is this hotel located?
  21. I have stayed in a few ESA properties for one night stays through HOTWIRE and PRICELINE. You will likely receive a room with one queen bed and you might want to call in advance and request a non-smoking room it that is your preference. There is no desk clerk or hotel staff on duty between 11:00 PM and 7:00 am, but if you are provided a phone number to call a manager. You will receive one packet of coffee good for 4 cups of weak brew, so if you need your morning coffee, bring some with. As AaronJB mentions, this hotel is marketed to folks who need accomodations for longer terms and want the accoutrements of home such as a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, glasses, plates, etc. And like home, you will have to make your own bed. :)
  22. I only mentioned motels as an alternative to PRICELINE, remember, the nearest bidding zone is 21 miles away from Wysox on two lane roads. If I knew the answer to that, I would be trading comodities on Wall Street :) I think this will be tough bidding as there is little competition, hence hotel managers don't have much incentive to discount. You could start at your minimum bid and increase each day by $5. In addition, you could change the number of days that you are bidding and split up your bid in case the hotel is full for the entire length of your travel dates. Good Luck.
  23. The closest PRICELINE zone to Wysox is Sayre, about 21 miles to the north and I think the only game in town is the Best Western and Hampton Inn. It has been my experience that hotels in these small markets don't discount much for PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. Also, because there is a lot of drilling in the general area for natural gas, hotel rates have gone up. There are some hotels to the west of Towanda in Mansfield, but that's about it. You might need to re-evaluate your budget or maybe consider one of the many "motel" style accomodations in this area. A few years ago, I checked into the Wyalusing Hotel (just east of Wysox) and was put in a room that reminded me of the hotel in Clint Eastwood's "High Plains Drifter" film, except it had a phone and a TV. I checked out and drove over to the Comfort Inn, which is about as good as it gets for this area. Good Luck!
  24. Yes, this is the place, the one with the less than helpful Front Desk Clerks and lumpy mattress described in this hotel review :) Check in was a breeze and I received a room with two double beds, completely nondescript. The beds were a bit firm and not very plush, but the room was clean but on the small-ish side. Overall, it was worth the value of my PRICELINE bid, but I would not stay here and pay rack rates. On the plus side, this hotel offers a free 24 hour shuttle to the airport, a nice bonus if you have a late arriving flight or an early departure. Wifi is free, as are local calls. Alas, there is no free breakfast, but with a Tim Horton's on just about every main intersection in the GTA, why go anywhere else?
  25. I believe this is the former Days Inn, it has been closed for a month or two during the conversion to a Holiday Inn.
