  1. $105.79 with taxes and fees Began bidding at $50 in $5 increments and won on what would have been my final bid before I booked a 4* Hotwire (best guess is the Palmer House) for $89. Different Hilton hotels, but price-wise looks like HOTWIRE and PRICELINE were comparable this time. Have stayed at both and either would have made me happy, but then I'm a sucker for the grandeur of historic hotels.
  2. Either the Copley Square or Quincy Market zones are in the heart of the city and should meet your needs well. With either ou can walk out the door and be surrounded by great restaurants, Boston sights, etc., and both offer easy access to the subway if you want to explore outside the immediate area. If you have specific questions, I'll be happy to try to answer. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
  3. Your rebid zones at the 4* level are: Brooklyn Chelsea Long Island City Madison Square Garden Upper East Side Upper West Side Note: these are rebid zones only at the 4* level. Do not bid at a lower star rating without asking thereuare for a new strategy. (Otherwise you might find yourself in Brooklyn, Chelse, or Madison Square Garden!)
  4. To maximize your free rebids for a 4* hotel at Logan up to $100 use this strategy: Select 4* Logan Bid $65, if rejected add Brighton/Brookline... Bid $70, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline. Select 4* Logan and Medford... Bid $75, if rejected add Brighton... Bid $80, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline. Select 4* Logan and South Boston... Bid $85, if rejected add Brighton... Bid $90, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline. Select 4* Logan and Medford and South Boston... Bid $95, if rejected add Brighton... Bid $100. Should you decide to rethink your maximum, use the same strategy but adjust the numbers up to your new maximum. (I start with my max and work back accordingly). For a 3*, you have the same rebid zones. Use the same strategy as above but replace 4* with 3* and adjust the numbers for whatever is your maximum for a 3*. As of this a.m., HOTWIRE lists a Logan 3* for $95 (amennities match the Sheraton Four Points so that would be the best guess), so I'd certainly keep the maximum below that. Also, I assume your back-up is an acceptable Logan property. But if not, the Hilton is currently offering a $269 unrestricted rate. Good luck! Please use the PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to begin your purchase.
  5. Won on first bid. Offer room/night: $50.00 Subtotal: $100.00 Taxes & Fees: $23.71 Total: $123.71 Delighted -- this is the hotel my daughter wanted. There's no way to test my theory, but with flexible dates I figured my best chance of winning this hotel was midweek when the Cards were on the road. Used your PRICELINE link. Thank you thereuare (and all posters). This is the second short getaway this summer that wouldn't have happened without everything I learned thru BetterBidding.
  6. Began bidding at $50 and won at $60. Offer: $60 Taxes & Fees: $16.78 Total: $76.78 After a lovely weekend at the Marriott, I had hoped to be lucky and win it again. But I've had two enjoyable stays at the Renaissance, so no complaints here! Used your PRICELINE link.
  7. Began bidding at $50 and won at $60 for 7/4 only. Extended the stay for an additional night. 2 nights Room: $120.00 Taxes & fees: $ 33.52 Total: $153.52 I'm amazed that my homebody husband agreed to a last minute getaway for the 4th. And who knows.....if he becomes a PRICELINE devotee we may actually get away together more often! Used your PRICELINE link. As always, thanks Better Bidding!
  8. Based on the amenities, my best guess would be that this is the Langham. I initially thought possibly the Intercontinental, but unless it's recently changed the Intercontinental is not a non-smoking hotel, while the Langham is. Someone reported a win at the Liberty in 01/08, but otherwise I don't know anything more or whether it shows up frequently on HOTWIRE. Personally, I've never seen it pop up, but that's based only on my limited number of travel dates.
  9. The closest would be the Quincy Market/Financial District zone. But the nice thing is that TD Bank North is at the North Station T-stop so you could easily take the green line to Copley or even transfer for Cambridge or Logan. Right now, it looks like the best deal showing up is a 4* Quincy Market for $135. Based on amenities, best guess would be the Omni Parker House or possibly Hilton Financial District. If you have more specific questions or can tell me your priorities, I'll try to help further. Otherwise, enjoy the concert!
  10. If your provide a bit more info I'll try to help. What is the price of your backup? What are the exact dates you are willing to split (or would you prefer not to split)? Are you only looking at Quincy Market/Financial District for the first part of the trip or is Copley Place acceptable? (There have been some winning bids -- including my own -- in the $110-$120 range for midweek stays this summer at the 4* Copley Marriott and Westin.) Are you only looking at 4* properties (my personal preference in Boston)? There are some nice 3* properties, but some I wouldn't prefer for a week-long stay. What is your maximum bid? I often use HOTWIRE for comparison purposes and saw there is a 4* Quincy Market/Financial District for $139 for your entire stay. Based on the amenities, I'd guess it's the Omni Parker House or Hilton Financial District. Usually -- but not alwayS -- when I find something on HOTWIRE I can successfully bid lower on PRICELINE. Given this I'd probably start bidding for a 4* at $90 and work my way up. I think something in the $120 -- maybe a little more or less -- might be winnable for the entire stay. I stay at Logan frequently, and it's been my experience that "lowball" bids are accepted closer to the date of stay. In my case I've done well within 2 weeks. If you actually want to split your dates and stay at Logan, you might want to keep your back-up for these dates and keep bidding low for awhile. I don't stay in the Waterfront zone, so can't help you with that. My guess is that availability might be limited during a conference, but that's purely a guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
  11. Thanks for the info on how to get you credit when using bonus dollars. Unfortunately I couldn't figure it out for this stay. But I did go through your link for the two Rochester wins posted on the NY board! (And of course I forgot to mention that in my posts.)
  12. I'm not entirely sure whether to report this as a $110 or $100 win. My actual bid was $100, but $10/night "bonus dollars" raised it to $110. $237.86 total with taxes and fees for two nights. This far out, I set $100 as my maximum and was rejected in the Logan and Quincy Market zones. I was set to book a cancellable back up, when I was pleasantly surprised with a win on my final bid. Very nice to get this trip taken care of on the first try and not have to think about it for the rest of the summer!
  13. Russell, I'll try to help with a little more info. Is Copley the only zone you are considering; do you want a 4* property; what is your maximum bid? Usually, I find I do better with PRICELINE, but with HOTWIRE you can make a reasonable guess as to what property you'll get. BTW, if you're not familar with it, Boston is a great place to be on the 4th of July! My personal preference would be to bid for a 4* at Quincy Market/Financial District or Copley.
  14. $81.98 total with taxes and fees Rejected at $60, won at $65. Looks like the Brookwood Inn is becoming my stopover while moving kids back and forth from college!
  15. $ 81.98 total with taxes and fees Won on first bid. Based on my 6/1 stay and other posted wins, $65 seems to do it for this property.
  16. Glad to help. Looks like the Club Quarters' star rating needs to be changed on the hotel list. Aner81, enjoy your stay!
  17. Unless their star ratings have been increased, the Holiday Inn and Club Quarters previously showed up as 3* hotels rather than 3.5*. Another guess for a 3.5* would be the Millenium. I've gotten it on Hotwire in the past, and while it didn't show internet access as an amenity, it does in fact have it. The other amenities are a match. Should be interesting to see if something's changed -- star ratings for Holiday Inn or Club Quarters or amenities for the Millenium,
  18. Amenities match the Colonnade, so that would be my best guess.
  19. I've frequently stayed at Logan through Priceline. You cannot guarantee winning a specific hotel through Priceline, but if you stick with 4* hotels at Logan and win you'll be either at the Hilton or the Hyatt. Both are lovely hotels, on the airport property with shuttle service, and I can highly recommend both. This is the strategy I use when bidding for Logan, and I think it's the same that thereuare would recommend. Select 4* Logan Bid $65, if rejected add Brighton/Brookline... Bid $100. To guarantee that you are on the airport property, DO NOT lower your star rating in this zone. If staying at the Hilton (rather than the Hyatt) is your priority, I would watch what comes up on HOTEWIRE where you have a good chance of identifying the hotel. Both the Hilton and Hyatt icons will show shuttle, restaurant, pool, fitness, and high-speed internet, but only the Hilton will show a business center. While I have been successful bidding further out, I've found that I'm most successful in this zone when bidding 2-4 weeks out. If it were me, I'd start bidding now but would book a cancelable back-up hotel if I wasn't immediately successful. If you have any questions, I'm happy to help further. Good luck! And finally, thereuare would say: Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
  20. Glad to hear you were successful! Looks like we'll be around the corner from each other -- I'm at the Hilton 5/6 - 5/8.
  21. I'd love to help, but I think I may be a bit confused. The way I read your post, it seems you extended your stay at the Millenium the night of 5/3. So, I'm not sure if you are looking for 5/3 - 5/7 or 5/4 -5/7. (BTW, it was only a one night stay, but I've been at the Millenium and enjoyed it.) Also, you mentioned the Hyatt Harborside. Is staying there your preference? If you are looking for the Hyatt Harborside for 5/4 - 5/7, what is most likely the Hyatt is currently listed on HOTWIRE for $123/night. If this is your prefence, you could either book it through HOTWIRE or see if you can win it for a lower bid on PRICELINE. But note that a 4* Logan win could give you either the Hyatt or Hilton. For me either would be fine (I slightly prefer the Hilton), but if you prefer the Hyatt and $123 is acceptable I'd go with HOTWIRE. If you are looking looking for 5/4 - 5/7 and don't want to change hotels, there's a 3.5* Quincy Market Hotel that is probably the Millenium on HOTWIRE FOR $134/night. For 5/3 - 5/7 what seems to be the same hotel is $129/night. Note, the Millenium is a 4* hotel on PRICELINE and a 3.5* on HOTWIRE. If you can clarify your dates and preferences/priorities I can try to help further. And of course, if your zone/hotel preferences are open, thereuare can provide a bidding strategy for either set of dates.
  22. My only thought would be to ask if you are willing to split your dates. At least on HOTWIRE, it looks like 5/1 might be your expensive date. There's currently a 4* Quincy Market (Omni Parker House?) for $129/night for 5/2 - 5/7. Maybe it could be had for less on PRICELINE. You could try bidding 5/2 - 5/7 and then see if they come back with an acceptable price for extending the stay on 5/1. Good luck!
  23. FYI, I don't know if there's anything else going on in Boston during these dates, but this is move-out weekend and graduation day for many of the many Boston area universities. Many hotels have been long sold out for 5/17 and those with availability seem to be charging astronomical prices. Sorry to be the bearer of potentially bad news. I do hope you're successful.
  24. $82.00 with taxes and fees Started bidding at $55 for Rochester South-Henrietta. Added East-Victor and won at $65. Hotel looks nice on its website and recent reviews are good so I look forward to trying the Brookwood Inn. And after this stay I'll have moved both daughters home from the east coast and look forward to my own bed for awhile!
