  1. 3.5* RTP zone of Raleigh-Durham Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi Speed, Golf, Business Center, Laundry. $209 for our dates above = total cost 2 nights $490.95 www.hilton.com showed rate of $89/nt. $209-$89 = $120 x 2 = $480 refund Net cost for two nights $10.95. Submitted Double The Difference form. Waiting for response. Thanks to my hubby for finding this one! It's a little pre-anniversary trip to be combined with a free dinner at Angus Barn (have a gift certificate). $10.95 not bad for net cost two nights at Hilton & fancy dinner! :)
  2. Thereuare: Yes, I don't think that'd be a problem. However, we may not be going until May now Husband is on 6 months probation at new job which ends April 30, and is not sure about requesting vacation prior to that time to celebrate our anniversary! Thanks. Will attempt to determine new dates or if we are going these dates. Will also check HW for split dates.
  3. I noticed below that some bids had been rejected for similar dates about a week ago. This property came up on Hotwire 5* for $190/nt. Through travelaxe.com, I was able to match the $190 /nt rate. Venetian's own site showed $259 I think. Vegas.com showed $224. Bellagio was $227 on vegas.com and $190 through travelaxe. Considering Luxor (found for about $133/nt incl. all taxes/fees through hotelclub.com, found again, through travelaxe) as a cancellable back up though does have a $15 cancellation fee. Maximum cost for hotel over 4 nts not more than about $550, so no more than about a $120 PL bid. Is it possible? Strategy? Other properties to consider? :)
  4. Congratulations on your new bundle of joy!!!
  5. Had a great stay! A few comments... Incidentally, on the night we checked in, the desk clerk had me intial the rate! It was $32 - I had bid $37 and it was accepted immediately, so a slight overbid. This same hotel has not allowed PL customers to have a King bed before. On our previous stay the request was denied. Two phone calls prior to arrival resulted in "No, we do not have any Kings available." At check-in, I figured it could not hurt to ask, and sure enough, our request was granted! It was great b/c the King room has a sitting area with a fold out sofa & coffee table. All rooms are oceanfront, so the views are great! We did have to go back and re-check-in on Friday. The woman who had told me on the phone that there were no kings available was working. She noted that our room had been changed. I think she was a little peeved. :)
  6. Senoreit - oh yes - She DEFINITELY reads this board. I was not banned until I made a post about her here too! I have two different ID names between here and TOBB, BUT she clearly identified me and promptly banned me! However, it's pretty easy to figure out how to get around even my IP address being banned if I want to check over there for anything! Like you said, I'll never be posting there again, and its her loss on account of the many people she has banned, and quite frankly, I hope she *is* reading this because she should know that her actions only make Better Bidding, all that much better! :)
  7. First, you'll want to see what you can get conventionally to know that you are getting a good deal on priceline. Try Mousesavers which has a wealth of information about Orlando, Disney and has a section on Rental Cars. After trying a few sites to see what kind of prices you can get with various codes, then you'll be ready to bid. We were successful for a compact in Orlando at $15 a day last May/June for a weekly rental. (may 30 to june 5). The total with fees, etc. was $148. However, conventionally, it was going to be $200 even with all discounts we could find. We got National, which worked just fine, and was at the airport, etc. One week, I had bid $15 for a compact & $17 for midsize and was rejected. Then, the following week, my husband bid $12 for economy and $15 for compact and was accepted. Incidentally, I've read that Orlando has the busiest rental car market in the entire world.
  8. I did a VP search for Key West: The Wyndham Reach came up 3 star and with the following amenities: Beachfront, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Tennis, Spa, Business. The Wyndham Casa Marina was 3.5 star as noted above with the same amenities noted above.
  9. Please share the hotels & the dates you found that deal!!!
  10. I know that Priceline prices fluctuate greatly, but you can sometimes figure out what PL paid. If you have a hotel with the on-TV account information - check that! This worked at the Four Points Sheraton in Charlotte last January, AND at the Hilton Towers. At the Renaissance in Asheville this past September, it did not work. Anyway, the online account balance at the Hilton Towers in Charlotte this past weekend showed that Priceline paid a total of $46.54. I bid $45 and with taxes & fees it was $57. So I feel I was probably pretty close to what would have been accepted at $45. Maybe just a little less would have got it also, but at a regular rate of $119 a night, $57 isn't bad!! Anyone else had success with this? (I posted this under the NC Charlotte PL post too!)
  11. Just stayed at the Hilton this past Saturday! It's a nice place and very walkable/convenient place to stay for the game!! It's also about 3-4 blocks in the other direction from the stadium from restaurants & bars. I'd definitely stay again! Also, for those who are curious - the Panther players stay at the Westin the night before the game. The visiting team stays at the Omni. We talked to some police officers about to escort the visiting team to the stadium from the Omni on Sunday a.m. AND - I found this little trick a few priceline stays ago. Sometimes you *can* find out what Priceline Paid - I'll post this under general priceline tips too. If you have a hotel with the on-TV account information - check that! 12. Hey - and if you got them on Hotwire at a higher rate, you may be able to do the Double the DIfference back for even more savings!
  13. We got one! My Brother works at Dell and told us about it yesterday morning! I configured off and on yesterday and yesterday afternoon, purchaesd a $1507 Inspiron 8600 for about $867 after shipping and fees!
  14. where would you go? Keep in mind, we live in N.C. ! We have roundtrip tickets anywhere Southwest flies! We'd like to go somewhere out west possibly! If the particular area had an awesome Priceline or Hotwire deal, that would be even better!
  15. Husband rebid today - $65 - accepted. Total with taxes for two nights 11/26 to 11/28 $159.81. So, all told, we still saved about $100 over a four night stay. Above is a slight error - for 11/24 to 11/26 - we bid $37/nt, not $35. So, now we have our all four nights! Here's the deal on Carolina Beach. There are only two chain hotels on the island - the Courtyard is the 2.5 star and the Microtel is the 2 star. Both are less than 2 years old. Courtyard is oceanfront, has an INDOOR and OUTDOOR pool! This Courtyard is really nice. I grew up down that way, so I'm VERY familiar w/ the area. We bid this last year for my husband's birthday in Nov. and paid a little bit more on priceline, maybe $45 for a Fri/Sat the week prior to Thanksgiving. The Microtel is not close to the ocean. It's off of 421, near Jubilee Park. It's a short drive, and could probably ride a bike, but it'd be a hike to walk to the beach from there. I have not stayed at the Microtel yet. There are tons of Mom & Pop's type hotels/motels, but I'd be shocked to see them come up. So, it's a pretty safe bet. My family lives near Wilmington and husband's family lives in coastal Brunswick, so we will be close to them for the holiday without havign to stay *with* them. :)
  16. Thanks. I tried it and the connection times out.
  17. Rebid this today at $58 for 11/26-11/28 - got a counter for $17. In my experience, usually half that amount will do it. Tried adding half that to figure total with taxes for a $65 bid - $159. The regular price is $89, with taxes for two nights $201. I'm not too thrilled with that deal, so I think we will wait it out. :)
  18. Well, now it's official. I've been banned! I need help! I've tried deleting my cookies and I'm still not able to access the board. Any suggestions?
  19. What exactly happens when you are banned? Does your password cease to work? Or do you get a message that you've been banned? Can you still read the board?
  20. I just wanted to mention a really great Entertainment Book Rate I got. DH and I stayed at the Riverview Suites in Wilmington, NC. It's part of the Hilton Riverside, but a different building and booked separately. It is all one-bedroom condos! The quoted rate was $170. When I mentioned my E Card, she said let me check - came back and quoted $85! I hopped right on it! This was for mid-July. The hotels own site was $165.
  21. I've not been banned. YET! :) I've now been chastised twice 1) once for not using the link and 2) for posting that my husband and I participate in "team" bidding on PL. I had a problem with my account and simply started a new one. I got chastised for that too. I'm through with that! Now, re: bidding through their link - they know exactly if you did or didn't and which city and the whole shebang. I submitted two bids - one for City A and one for City B. For City A I remembered to use their affiliate. For City B I forgot. TOBB thanked me for doing it for City A, but said they did not get credit for City B.
  22. Oh an interesting post. I had my post deleted by TBOATOBB when discussing this. My husband and I bid separately all the time. We have the same last name, same mailing address, but two emails and two different credit cards. So far, no problem.
  23. Originally, I wanted to stay all four nights of Thanksgiving weekend 11/24 to 11/28. The hotel's own site shows $69 for Wed & Thurs and $89 for Fri & Sat. First bid all four nights $40 rejected. No free rebids. Then, split bid and bid 11/24 to 11/26 - $35 - accepted immediately. Bid 11/26 to 11/28 $45 and rejected. Will rebid the Fri & Sat portion again. Wondering what kind of bid it will take. If it does not work out, it's fine b/c we can stay with family or cut our trip a little short. Thanks for having a great site as an alternative to others out there.
  24. Weekend rates of $169 & $159. AAA of $127 fully prepaid; and $148 cancellable. Holiday Inn Fully Booked. Bid $50, $55, $63, then $72. WIsh I had bid a little lower the forth time, but oh well! Your Offer Price: $72.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $144.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $24.52 Total Charges: $168.52
