  1. 2nd attempt! Tigard Residence Inn (Lake Oswego) $44- 2 rooms Nov 27-Nov 30= 6 nites total $264 + $44.32 SC= $308.32 total. Never stayed at this one but very happy with all Residence Inns in the past.
  2. thx for the info, good to know....yeah, the few times i stayed @ seatac they charged 'big time'..... now, i'll just have to complain airplane noise! lol
  3. what i meant was Lloyd Centre/Convention Centre Zone....i always request 2.5* for my preferred zones & twice in the past I was 'upgraded' to the 3* DT Lloyd Ctr. as far as complaining goes....all i'm saying is that PL'ers should not be descriminated against....otherwise don't be a part of the program. & yes i'm sure some people might have had better experiences than me @ DoubleTree...but the 2 times I've been there, it was not pleasant.....maybe they just don't like my face?
  4. *EXACTLY*! I'm with you all the way............. for CC Portland I prefer the 2.5* over the 'so called' upgrade to the 3* usually that upgrade will be the DTree Lloyd Ctr which I have had 2 bad experiences with. Not sure why DTree (Hilton chain??) treat PL'ers so badly?? All other Hilton brands like the Garden Inn @ L.Oswego which I have won several bids for have been excellent. This is why I NEVER will bid for DT Portland or CC area anymore....fearing DTree. :)
  5. hey tilepusher...just kinda curious, how did you like DTree Lloyd Ctr? reason why I ask, is I got that place twice in the past & I was very unhappy with them b/c: 1. they descriminate against PL'ers (we get smallest noisiest rooms close to elevator 1 bed only) 2. they treat PL'ers like 2nd class citizens 3. they charge $15 parking/nite (just park on the adjacent streets free from 6pm-8am)
  6. got ESA one time @ Renton South Centre Seattle when accidentally added in a 2* bid. Price is good but the hotel was kinda 'dirty'....seems like one of those (although not as bad) transient 'skid row' type of premise where 'people' usually rent 1 month at a time kinda places. I prefer the minimum 2.5* hotel where they at least have a 24 hr front desk.
  7. good score- hopefully its one of the airport hotel that doesn't 'gouge' PL'ers for parking fees!
  8. went up in $1 increments & added areas.....from $42 to $48= NO LUCK! tried 24 hours later- went in $2 increments with the same zone adding from $48. voila! finally got Residence Inn Jantzen Beach for $56+taxes = $65/nite/room July 3-6, 3 rooms total for family & friends. A bit higher than past Portland bids I have won usually between $40-$48 that I was successful at. Probably July4 weekend has something to do with it! bid technique: wanted 2.5* (Courtyard, Marriott, Hilton type brand) & did not bid in Portland D/T or Lloyd Center (did not want to end up terrible Doubletree Lloyd!!) & also didn't want ridiculous parking Fees!! >$42 Lake Oswego >$43 add Beaverton >$44 add Gresham (note: no 2.5* in this zone!) >$45 add NW Portland (no 2.5*) reason of course is to get another bid chance @ a bit higher price. >$46 add S Waterfront (no 2.5*) >$47 add Clackamas >$48 add Jantzen Beach NO LUCK ON ALL ABOVE: note the areas I REALLY wanted were Oswego-Beaverton-Clackamas-Jantzen in that respective preference. 24HRS later: >$50 Lake Oswego >$51 add Beaverton >$52 add Gresham >$54 add NW Portland >$56 add S Waterfront >$56 add Clackamas >$56 add Jantzen Beach FINALLY- got Residence Inn-Jantzen $56- quite happy although I would have prefer a bit further south. I think I might have also paid a few bucks too much, but what the heck! >But free breakfast & studio suite & close to I5 & Jantzen Beach Ctr. is OK too! checked out Hotel website, looks fairly new & is not on any PL or Hotwire Forum list. But I have always been very happy w/Residence Inns from past experiences. BTW-website's 'Best' rates is a whopping $170/nite!! Hope this helps out some newbies that aren't sure "how to bid". Good luck to all.
  9. you can add $15-$20/nite if you want to park on their premise. total scam IMO....unless you can somehow 'sweet-talk' them into comping the parking, but it might be tough, given you're staying just 1 nite. my advice? just find something to complain about & that might work. otherwise you can park on the street adjacent to the hotel from 6pm-8am (i think those are the meter down times) for free.
  10. i got a bid through once @ this hotel. really liked it! very new & clean, close to I5 & stateline. good score! as i can recall, i got it @ ~ $45.
  11. i hate it too- being upgraded from 2.5 to 3* especially when it's the DT inn Lloyd Ctr. that's why i never bid D/T portland anymore. DT inn treats PL customers 2nd class citizens. don't be too happy about the price you get b/c you have to factor in the $15-$20 nite parking charge they gouge you with. just park on the the street adjacent to hotel (free after 5pm-8am).
  12. July 2-5/2007. Tried $39 like last successful bid back in Feb07. >got rejected. Upped it to $42 and added Beaverton & VOILA! >got the Hilton Garden Inn AGAIN....just like last time (very satisfied) will pick this type of hotel over any D/T 2.5-3* anyday! free parking, easy freeway access, etc. might have been able to get it for maybe $41-$42/nite....but can't complain, being July 4th week & all.
  13. sorry- to hear you're unsuccessful......i bidded about a month ahead? not sure whether that helped..... nice clean hotel....stayed here previously....minutes to washington sq. mall....close to 101 & next to I5 for easy access to anywhere...not to mention a few exits from I-205 for quick access to clackamas town ctr. my stay from 3-17 - 3-20 was start of spring break....which was surprising to me that i won the bid!
  14. "fees" don't bother you??- doesn't really matter what deal you got on the room (even @ 70% off rack price), wouldn't you rather have the extra $ in your pocket than their's?
  15. **awhile back i got the exact same hotel for roughly the same price- watch out for the $15-$20/night parking charge, they're going to drop on you. Just act very upset, like I did, & complain like crazy & they just might comp you 1 free nite parking, like they did for me. *still, a rip-off! s/b no parking fees when you're staying @ their hotel. They'll give you some story that they don't own the parking lot.....??!! **you're stuck, b/c there's no free street parking close by that I know of, around seatac- most other hotels @ airport also charge for parking- Days Inn across the street, though, I noticed advertises free parking for hotel patrons. one other thing they'll probably shove you waaaaay back @ one of the 'motel' wings- PL'ers would NEVER get to stay in a TOWER room, dat's for sure! I've never had any pleasant PL experiences with the Doubletree hotel chain.........
  16. ooops- yup -of course you're RIGHT! we're in 2007AD! yeah- i really wanted to make sure i got these dates....so i tried early, being spring break & all, might be tougher later.....outside d/t portland i find are better deals being 'newer' clean hotels & also free parking! not to mention, closer to the outlet malls too. whereas d/t & airport almost always price 'gouge' for parking, which can really kill the deal...... usually minimum a 2.5-3* hotel is very decent.
  17. $18/nite parking?? ain't such a good deal anymore, is it??? i got a PL bid once @ doubletree lloyd & they try to 'rape' me for $15/nite. just park on the street adjacent to the hotel as it's free from 6pm-8am. they tried being nice by comping me 1 out of 4 nites for parking. i refused it. their parking charge is a total scam & cash grab. not to mention the crap rooms they keep aside for the PL travellers. but if you must stay d/t just make sure you're travelling alone b/c there's not enough room for 2 people in the doubletree PL rooms!
  18. just scored a bid for 3 rooms @ the Hilton Garden Inn @ Lake Oswego, OR. for family & friend travel trip. mar 17-20/2006 started @ $35 for tigard- refused then $37 added beaverton- refused then $37 again- added jantzen beach- refused tried $39 added clackamas- accepted $39 + $6.27 sc/taxes = $45.27/night X 9 total nights = $407.46 Grand Total. summary- been doing portland trips 3-5 times a year w/family & friends. always been very happy w/the Hilton brand name. have gotten this hotel in the past- & have been very happy!!! just a few blocks from I5. close to everything & easy Interstate access. very clean & newer building. & most importantly the front desk (unlike many othes hotels i've got in the past) doesn't discriminate against PL people. they don't even bring it up! that's why i never try d/t portland anymore b/c i'm afraid of getting Doubletree Lloyd Ctr. I HATE that place- they give you the worst rooms, charge like $16/nite parking & enjoy pointing out the fact you booked through PL. -will never budge to give you 2 beds either (i have 3 kids!!). Just remember D/T & airport hotels almost always charge for PARKING!! -so, keep that in mind! In the past, i've been able to get 2.5* for about $32/nite but that's only for 1 room. it's a lot tougher to get that kinda price for 3 rooms. based on my bid strategy- i don't think i could've gotten a lower price...... btw- i checked the regular website for this hotel & the rack rate would have been $119/nite + taxes, so i basically paid 1/3 the price!!! good luck to everyone else!
