  1. On the up side, the Renaissance is actually closer to the Subway station by about 300 metres than the Marriott and is connected to a Grocery Store/Mueller Bakery. It also does not have rooms facing the highway unlike the Marriott (though it was barely audible when the windows were closed). It's a wonderful area - a quiet neighborhood area in Nordfriedhof. I'm sure you know that already being from Munich, but it's good info for other persons considering the 2 places. I actually ended up finding the Renaissance and asking them for directions to the Marriott :)
  2. Won the Hyatt Regency Chicago on the first bid via Priceline.com this time (which I was totally not expecting). I was happy with what I got as I was intending to go to the club in this hotel "Hard Drive" the first night in Chicago so this will making stumbling back to bed in the wee hours of the morning a bit easier. No coat check, woo! :) I did try bidding for this hotel way back in September/October when I booked the trip but was rejected for this price so I was glad I got this property for this price. Hyatt.com is showing $109/night for this property for these same dates. Congratulations, you got your price of $45 for a 4-star hotel room. 3. Bid using the link on savingsbarn.com. I did try bidding for this area a few weeks back but was rejected at $43, this $45 price was accepted immediately. When I had called the hotel to make a room request Non-Smoking, King bed was already in the reservation so that was nice. Thanks for the great betterbidding.com resource! :) Congratulations, you got your price of $45 for a 3-star hotel room. 4. Bids of 50, 53, 55, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62 were rejected (I did note that 61 seemed to be one of the lowest bids possible but wanted to see how low I could go). Bid of $63 was accepted. Used SavingsBarn.com multiple times :) Attempted to bid City Centre North first then increment bid by $1 for City Centre South. Winning bid won on bidding City Centre North with 4* quality. Congratulations, you got your price of $63 for a 4-star hotel room. 6. I spent a few days bidding @ $32 for the Portland Red Lion but I couldn't get it no matter what I did so I started my bid at $34 today for the 2* area around PDX. I got the Portland Airport Inn on my first bid of $34. But the weird thing is when I put the address of this place into Google it popped up Red Lion, Howard Johnson, Portland Airport Inn and I was like "what is going on?" Turns out that the Portland Airport Inn is formerly a Howard Johnson, now known as the Portland Airport Inn and they are undergoing renovations to become the Red Lion as of August 1st. So another Red Lion in the PDX area, very interesting. She indicated breakfast would be from 3:30am-7:30am and that there is a 24-hr complimentary shuttle available from the Airport. I am flying in at 11pm the night before and checking out for a 6:00am flight so the restrictive breakfast times isn't too disconcerting for me. I called the hotel and had the room changed to a single queen and non-smoking. I'll put up a trip report when I get back but it's good to know. Cheers, lilazncanadian
