tech125 Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Just bid $50 for 3* in Palm Desert zone for a one night stay on 5/28/2010 and was rejected.Willing to go a bit higher if anyone has any advice I would appreciate it.Note this is a holiday weekend. Thanks
yellowdog Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 What is your maximum for this stay?Have you looked at HOTWIRE? they have a 3* at $65.Yellowdog.
Colfax Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Just bid $50 for 3* in Palm Desert zoneThe zone also includes Rancho Mirage and Indian Wells...not just Palm Desert. The 3* Indian Wells Resort that sometimes comes up has a $20/day resort fee.HOTWIRE's 3* for $65 looks like the Country Inn & Suites. Purchasing Country Inn at $65 could turn out cheaper than winning the IWR at $55 plus $20 resort fee. But you might win a 3* for $55 with no resort fee too. No way to predict. What are you looking for in this stay? Location? Low price? A certain type of hotel?

No way to predict. What are you looking for in this stay? Location? Low price? A certain type of hotel?I would like to stay away from any resorts due to the $20 extra fee. Location would be anywhere in the Rancho Mirage, indian Wells, and Palm Desert area, basically as far west on the I10 as possible as I have to travel to Indio the next day.Budget would be $50-$60(plus tax).I just want a cheap clean safe place to stay for the night....I think i will slowly increase my bid in $5 increments and hope for the best...

Colfax Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 I would like to stay away from any resorts due to the $20 extra fee.HOTWIRE has a 3* in Rancho Mirage-Palm Desert zone for $59 now.Breakfast, Fitness, Pool, Laundry, Internet.I can't tell if it's Holiday Inn Express or Country Inn, but in either case it's the location you want, with free parking and breakfast, and no resort fee. This sounds better to me than bidding higher on Priceline. You're already at $55, with real risk of winning a hotel with a resort fee (and no free breakfast) if you bid higher. You could get a resort fee bidding in Palm Springs zone too. Please use this HOTWIRE link if you decide to purchase. Or keep us posted with the Priceline.

yellowdog Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 tech125That is normal for HOTWIRE. It would be the same property, Holiday Inn Express or Country Inn like Colfax guessed. Please use the site's HOTWIRE link to start your purchase, and let us know how it goes or if you need any additional help with your stay.Yellwdog
