Good Day--first time on site but heard great things, so giving it a try--visiting NYC with family in March and seeking a 5 star hotel for 5 nights--interested in thoughts on best strategy to get hotel room--open to all areas of city and ideally want to spend no more then $150/night--welcome thoughts/suggestions--thanks

How many people will be in your party? If you have more than two, you will probably want to use Hotwire, or else get two rooms on Priceline.

I don't think $150/night is a reasonable expectation for a 5* hotel, because the very few reported bids in the past year or two have all been over $200. There are lots of nice hotels with a lesser star rating. Would those work?

In addition to the questions WT asked:

What are the actual date(s) of your stay.

There is only one known 5* rated hotel in NYC that participates with Priceline, and it comes up very rarely. I would highly recommend expanding your search to include 4* properties as well.

Let us know and we'll advise further.
